I like to go there quite regularly since their reopening in September. This is definitely a very nice restaurant, no matter when I go,  I'm happily surprise. No wonder it have been recognized by this year TATLER guide one of the 20 best restaurant in HK. There is something special there. Food is well thought. Service is very friendly and attentive. They are open from B'fast to Dinner so I had the occasion to try different slots time. Breakfast. I simply love their egg Benedict, perfectly cooked egg & fresh sauce...wich is rare. They have other interesting Egg dishes that I want to try as well. Lunch is busy but you can see the boys there are using quality ingredients and the prices are reasonable. There is some all time favorites like Cesar salad, freshly revisited, lard and croutons are crispy, sauce is not basic mayo but made of sour milk which make it very light. This go along with some more creative dishes. Which I appreciate. Quite healthy too. They just change the menu so I haven't tried everything yet. My absolute favorite time there is dinner. This is where Mano definitely worth the trip. The mood of the lively kind of modern bistro style change to a more refine restaurant but in a same time a very relaxed atmosphere, a place you could fine in NY or London. Nice and well thought menu, not over extensive so you know that ingredients used are fresh and each dish are well thought.  Again, quite descent prices for this range of dishes. The wine list is super interesting too, with some little gems (as they call it) of very fair price. This time we had a Gevrey Chambertin who did not cost us one eye (Which is rare nowadays) who was absolutely gorgeous. Effort is well done on seasonal products. I always ask the staff of even the Chef directly, he's always there, caring for the guest together with the service staff, if there is any specials. Some dishes are to share, like the dry aged Beef Cote de Boeuf (beef rib) we had this time. So nice and juicy + good enough to feed 2 to 3 people. Grilled in wood fire, I really could taste the nice smokiness. It come with a bone marrow little spicy and a wonderful silky mash potato. I had the squid as starter and my friend had a crab with cauliflower that day before the beef. Very tasty, beautiful. Interesting twist with the squid and Spanish chorizo.  The crab with the blackcurrant was also very interesting. We also tried the vegetable with chorizo. A must to try. Healthy and in the same time full of flavor. One of my favorite and as I understand one of their signature dish.Desserts were beautifully presented  and well thought too. I love the Chocolate. My friend had the green apple. Very fresh, light and so beautiful. In short, very good food at a very descent price for this quality on ingredients and execution. Genuine and Friendly service, they don't overdo things, make you comfortable and do their best to make sure you enjoy your time. I simply highly recommend this place.! Oh...and I forgot. They also served fantastic cappuccinos And special coffees.! In and even to go..!

I went for lunch here today with a friend. Didn't have any expectation, but feel so disappointed with the money I paid. The dishes looked excellent, but the taste...We ordered 2 appetiziers- Egg and Caeser Salad:The Egg dish was cooked with mushroom and it is heavily soaked with parma ham; the Caeser salad was flooded with dressing- both dishes were so salty to a point which I couldn't bear. The Salmon sandwich (lunch set) was disappointing too-the bread was not warm, the cheese inside made the sandwich very salty (again!)About the service- I'm not sure it was good or bad, the staffs kept coming to try to take away our plates which still had food on it. It was kinda annoying, did they want to kick us out? 繼續閱讀

Booked a table earlier on the same day so there was no waiting time required. The set lunch menu includes a few appetisers, two soups, some mains and some desests.  You could choose a two course or three course lunch.I choose the two course menu with the chestnut soup and a pasta dish. All sets included a 'seasonal ice tea'.The first thing that came was the tea.  I am quite sure that the menu said 'ice tea'.  It obviously came hot.  Perhaps the restaurant should change the menu to reflect that little mistake.  I can't recall what flavour I tasted, perhaps apple, but it was mild and I should have asked for a bag of sugar.Chestnut soup came up next.  It first appeared as such, chestnut and cream (I think) scattered across the dish.  A waitress came with a transparent teapot and poured soup into the dish.  It tasted good and savoury and it was hot enough.  Pasta dish came last.  I have to say, the moment I first saw the dish, I seriously thought it was macaroni and cheese with pumpkin pieces.  Only until half way through the dish did I realise that the cheesy coloured (and textured) sauce was in fact pumpkin sauce.  I am still not too sure about that.  I believe the dish would have been better if a different type of pasta was used.  Thin and crunchy slices of fried bacon were placed on top which gave the dish a nice touch. Bacon pieces were a bit too hard to chew on though.  Another funny thing I noticed on the menu was that this dish was labelled as 'pasta (v)'.  Assuming '(v)' means veggie, the description was incorrect given the bacon that was included.  Unless of course 'v' meant something cool in a cool language that I did not know.  Meh.  A friend who dined with me had the roasted chicken dish which was stuffed with some ingredients coupled with smoked eggplant mash.  I had a taste of it and it was much better than my odd macaroni and cheese pasta dish.  Should have ordered that instead.  One thing to note was the service.  I do believe the staff working at Mano tried their best.  However, they gave this distinct feeling of headless chickens running around.  There were at least 4-5 floor staff and the dining area wasn't that large, but none of them seemed to be very organised.  I had to wait for service for at least 15 seconds before someone noticed me.  Foodwise, the quality was alright.  Portions were not very large. Given a choice, I would rather spend the same amount of money at Liberty Bar and Restaurant at IFC for a larger selection, larger portion and equal lack of service.  繼續閱讀

I just took my team out for lunch at Mano as a pre-Christmas treat. The service was good and we were seated right away. Based on my previous 3 visits (last year) I felt confident that the restaurant would provide good food at a reasonable price in a high end environment and the location is very close to our office, so I thought it would be a suitable choice to give my staff a treat in return for their year's good work. Unfortunately the menu is completely different to how is used to be and in effect the experience was rather disappointing. Where in the past the portions and quality of ingredients were both high, nowadays you are presented with a small portion and the price is certainly higher than I recall in the past. For appetisers we ordered the endive salad and the egg and mushroom thing... I'm not even sure what it was. The egg and mushroom thing looked a bit like custard pudding, but actually didn't taste bad. The salad was not that tasty and although we were assured upon leaving that all ingredients are of the highest quality and mostly imported I have to say that the tiny bits of cheese and ham in that salad looked of dubious quality - I would even think of describing the mystery meat as 'luncheon meat' rather than anything high quality.Mains were ok. One colleague ordered the pulled pork burgers. She received 2 very small burgers and a side of fries. The rest of us ordered fish dishes and decided to order a side of fries as the portions were so small it was clear that (having not finished the unappetising appetisers) we would be hungry without some carbs on the side. The colleague who ordered the pulled pork only ate one bun, so I can only imagine it was not that delicious. The fish was all eaten by all and although it was fairly tasty it was clear when the plates arrived that the food had been standing in the kitchen for some time as a light skin had started to form on the sauce that came with the mackerel.Once it came to dessert we decided not to bother staying since based on the taste and size of the portions presented thus far we did not feel confident that the dessert would be that satisfying. What is more, the descriptions of the dessert on the menu left a lot to the imagination, for example 'FIG - black, sollies, tomato, ginger' - no idea what to expect. I'm a native English speaker and I don't understand. Instead we decided to skip across the street to Wellcome for Haagen Dasz ice creams for a fraction of the price of what would probably have been a tiny dessert.I won't go back I'm afraid. 繼續閱讀
