蘭桂坊出名夜生活,飲酒夜浦之外,仲有好多好野食。 由蘭桂坊德己立街轉入巷仔再走到盡頭,便看到這間充滿異國風情的小屋(中午來會睇得清楚啲,夜上其實唔係好睇得清楚出面的裝潢),就像是走進了另一個世界,這是墨西哥餐廳Brickhouse。餐廳好暗,真係好暗,但我就係喜歡佢夠暗,同朋友食下野,飲兩杯,呢個mood 最正。不過音樂太大聲,講到的喉嚨痛,細聲啲會好啲。waiter 都好主動,舉手叫人都好快過來(因為叫係聽唔到嫁)。 食物唔錯, Tacos真係好好食, 我平時少食墨西哥菜, 覺得佢味道好濃, 但呢間tacos真係好正,啲醬料香辣,入口清爽。當然價錢唔平啦 200幾蚊一個dish.

I went to Brickhouse for a birthday gathering. I'd heard it was great so I was looking forward to it. When we got there, the music was so incredibly loud that many people from our group suggested that we leave. But we stayed because we'd ordered a cake. The staff were great and friendly. We ordered drinks (super expensive), a taco platter and corn to share. Food and drinks were so overpriced, and the portions were small. It was tasty, but not worth the price. The cake they made (we had ordered in advance) was delicious! A real homemade cake. But sadly, that was the highlight, and we left straight after we'd eaten. It was impossible to have any kind of conversation. 😕

中環經常有不少隱世小店出現,依間位於蘭桂芳側路位置既Secret Bar肯定你有經過,但就未必發現佢既存在。由於始終係一間酒吧,如果想傾下計小酌幾杯,依個未必係prefect choice,因為音樂都真係幾大聲。本身分正幾個Area,有室內有室外,亦有分純飲酒同飲野。食野主要係室內,有座位,飲酒就以企位為主。今次主要黎都係食野為主,野食方面就係主打墨西哥菜,口味算濃烈,最適合配酒!頭盤嗌左一個西瓜沙律,不同於西餐沙律,首先主角方面用左西瓜已經相當少見,可以因為味道較搶,但佢配上極濃味既芝士,两者既味道雖然都十分強烈,但西瓜可以中和濃味芝士帶黎既膩感。入面仲有烤過既果仁等,增加口感及味道層次。跟住我地嗌左一個我認為必點既墨西哥風味烤粟米,外面滿滿既芝士,加上薄薄既香料粉,傳統食法用刀切到全碟都係一粒粒既粟米,加上青檸汁,濃濃既芝士味配上淡淡既香糖料,粟米同青檸既清新,完全沖擊既味道,令你忍唔住不繼一啖接一啖。不過食得多都會幾膩,所以一定要有一杯烈酒,咁就十分過引喇!主食主面點左一個雞肉既Taco,佢本身有好多款不同口味可以揀,仲有一個拼盤可以任揀其中5個口味,不過今次較食,所以就嗌一款夠晒喇!一如墨西哥菜既特色,十分香濃既香料味,雞肉十分嫩滑。餅皮厚度相當適中,唔會太厚,亦唔會薄到成手醬料。黎得酒吧當然要嗌酒,依杯Old Fashioned十分岩我口味,濃得黎好有層次,個base係煙熏味相當濃厚既Whisky,加上橙皮,多左一份果香同苦澀味。如果中意烈酒,依杯絕對抵飲,唔輸出面既Whisky Bar。唔飲酒都有選擇,依杯用左洛神花做base既Cocktail充滿中式風情,入口酸酸甜甜好醒胃,加上話梅粉係杯邊,飲既時候可以隨自己口味控制甜度。總括黎講,除左音樂有啲大,氣氛十分不錯,成場都係外國人,比較少local。如果要去蘭桂芳飲酒係一個相當不錯既晚餐/Pre Drink選擇,假如飲到7分醉想搵野食亦十分合適,因為味道既濃度足夠刺激你既果蕾。

Talk about food bringing people together! I went to Brickhouse with a girl who found my blog a couple of weeks back. It was so nice to meet someone who loves food as much as I do, who looked up the menu in advance and knew exactly what to order. I do that all the time! Brickhouse restored some faith that Hong Kong has some decent Mexican food to offer. New York is my yardstick for comparison. The place is quite lively, more to hangout with friends than family. Tucked in an alley in Lan Kwai Fung or LKF, it's open for dinners through later in the nights. Loud music, colourful yet rustic decor. I was disappointed with my drinks that were very watered down. I don't know what's with these places charging generously for measly spiked drinks. I'd gotten the Carlito's Mezcal which had passionfruit, lime and smoked grapefruit. I did enjoy that smokiness. The Diabla 2.0 with vodka, raspberry, tamarind and habanero failed on the taste as well as the liquor content. It might as well have been a bland mocktail. We got the Mexican street-style corn and nachos to share. The corn was good - your usual Mexican corn on the cob with anejo butter, spiced mayo and parmesan. The nachos were corn chips topped with vegetarian chili con carne (the carrots caught my attention) and the usual fixings of guac, sour cream, cheese, onions and cilantro. While they were good, I'm not sure if that HKD 165 price tag was justified. It could've done with more toppings and bigger portion size? I don't know.
