Portuguese Restaurant by Portuguese Owners in Macau: Must-Try Seafood Rice!
When in Macau, the must-do is to find a great Portuguese restaurant! “IN Portuguese Food” located near Rua da Cunha, has been operating for over 10 years. The decor features items from the owner's hometown, creating an atmosphere that truly reflects Portuguese flavor. The owner humorously mentioned that even after visiting Portugal, the local seafood rice here is still unbeatable (laughs). You definitely have to try it!
“IN Portuguese Food” has three floors, each with its own charm.

Ground floor is filled with authentic Portuguese vibes.

Second floor has an elegant environment, perfect for dates.

Third floor terrace is spacious and becomes even more romantic during autumn and winter nights.

Seafood Rice
Seafood Rice is served in a traditional Portuguese clay pot, and the portion is surprisingly generous. Topped with lobster, mussels, prawns and clams, you can truly enjoy seafood in every bite. The essence of the dish is rich broth which is made from lobster heads, high-quality seafood and tomatoes, creating a unique sweetness that can't be replicated. It's no wonder the owner misses this seafood rice when in Portugal (laughs).

Lobster is large and succulent.

Bacalhau Assado
Speaking of that rich broth made from lobster, you can also find it in other dishes like this Bacalhau Assado. The seemingly ordinary potatoes are cooked in lobster broth, giving them a natural sweetness with a hint of seafood flavor. If you usually crave carbs at night but don’t want plain rice, this dish is absolutely worth it.

Codfish Cake
Codfish, a Macanese specialty, has more than one way to be enjoyed. The most classic is the Codfish Cake. Here, they use a traditional method, pressing the codfish with two tablespoons and then frying it. The filling is perfectly dense, achieving a delightful contrast of a crispy exterior and soft interior.

Shrimp Cake
There are several fried options. Besides the codfish cake, my favorite is the crescent shaped Shrimp Cake, which is crispy and has a great bite.

Suckling Pig
One of the signature dishes at “IN Portuguese Food” is the Suckling Pig. Made from young pigs that result in tender meat. The skin is roasted to a perfect crisp, and the first bite reveals a crunchy and savory flavor. Paired with fresh orange and a secret sauce to cut through the richness, making it quite satisfying.

Francesinha
Francesinha is a unique sandwich from Porto, Portugal. Featuring thick bread filled with beef steak and ham, topped with cheese and a sunny side up egg—truly the pinnacle of sandwiches!

Bife à Portuguesa
PPortuguese Steak is a dream come true for meat lovers! At first glance, it resembles Francesinha but it has no bread. Instead, it layers beef medallions, ham, cheese and topped with a sunny side up egg. It's definitely worth the challenge to take a bite with all these ingredients that pure bliss in flavor!

Chourico Flambe
At first, you might think it's just a regular sausage, didn't expect the staff to set it on fire! The flaming moment not only heats up the atmosphere but also enhances the sausage's aroma. Before tasting, you can already smell its deliciousness. The skin is crisp, and biting into it releases flavorful juices.

Espetada de carne mi sta
This meat skewer is impressive! Staff told us to use tongs to serve ourselves adding to the fun. The thick cuts of meat are infused with a smoky flavor, making it very authentic. The skewer come with salad and fries, perfect for sharing while enjoying some beer.

As we progress through the meal, it's evident that the portions here are generous! Take these beef short ribs as an example, there are around 10 thick slices! And the beef is cooked to a tender, juicy perfection, accompanied by grilled corn and jalapeños.
