Discover melt-in-your-mouth Australian Wagyu at a hidden gem in Sai Ying Pun
If you love sinking your teeth into a good, juicy steak, then The Den should be on your hot-meat radar.  Plenty of steakhouses offer good meat, but it’s not so easy to find top-notch steak. If you think you can only get excellent quality steaks in five-star hotels or upscale steakhouses, then The Den will change your mind.

The cozy restaurant, which is located off the beaten track on Oaklands Path – a short three-minute walk from Sai Ying Pun MTR station, Exit C – serves a lip-smacking selection of Australian Wagyu that’s cut and cooked to perfection.

The Den is small and cozy.

Neighborhood price for top quality Australian Wagyu
After many years in the food and beverage industry, and sampling numerous kinds of Wagyu, the owner of The Den opened the restaurant nearly five years ago to bring Wagyu from New South Wales to Sai Ying Pun at friendly neighborhood prices.

The Den offers M5+ to M7+ grade Wagyu daily, and M7+ by request that is antibiotic- and-hormone free. The high-quality meat boasts beautiful marbling – necessary for optimal flavour and texture – and is hand-cut by the chef to a minimum of one-inch thick to preserve quality while it’s being cooked. The servings are bigger than you’ll get in most steakhouses.

Marbling keeps the Wagyu tender and juicy, with a melt-in-the-mouth texture and rich flavor.

There are seven choices of cut – rib-eye, sirloin, rump, fillet, tenderloin, t-bone and tomahawk – that present different ways to enjoy the Wagyu. The chef’s daily special includes tasty and generous sized t-bone and tomahawk steaks that are perfect for sharing between three or more people. The most popular cuts are the fillet which has less fat content, and the rib-eye, which has a higher percentage of marbling than the other cuts and a beautiful eye in the centre that make it more juicy and tender.

Wagyu steaks range in size from 250g to 600g; the most popular size of rib-eye and sirloin is 380g to 420g. The t-bone starts at 1.2kg, while the tomahawk starts from 1.7kg – eating anything over 600gs can see your name added to the popular Wagyu Leader Board.

Friendly and informative Staff at The Den recommend having your meat cooked medium or medium-rare as this melts the marbling through the meat while keeping it soft and succulent.

For a truly hearty experience, try the Mega T-bone that gives you the best of two cuts, sirloin and tenderloin, in one 1.5” to 2” thick steak. The tenderloin side offers a mouth-watering aroma and silky texture, while the sirloin presents a rich flavour. The dish comes with unbelievably good homemade chimichurri and black pepper sauce.
