Had the brunch menu, quite a bit of pasta for one person. No waiting time. Service was attentive and deserving of a tip.Going from top to bottom in chronological order:Bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - average, crusty but not the best in townBruschetta - Star of the show, the verde and anchovies are a fresh take on a very tired dish - big thumbs upPappardalle Ragu - I wish I could rate it better, but it's average at best. Going from top to bottom in chronological order:
Bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - average, crusty but not the best in town
Bruschetta - Star of the show, the verde and anchovies are a fresh take on a very tired dish - big thumbs up
Pappardalle Ragu - I wish I could rate it better, but it's average at best. Pasta was undersalted and not al dente. But hey you could tell they finished it in the sauce at least.
Taglioni - Perhaps my palette is too philistine to appreciate this, but to me it tasted like an undersalted and overcooked cacio e pepe without enough flavour outside of the truffle slices. Obviously a hit with the instagram crowd given the flakes of truffle but if you're able to make your own carbonara (authentically Roman style with only eggs, pecorino, guanciale, toasted crushed peppercorns and a good sense of timing with pasta and pasta water) you might be disappointed.
Both pastas were in my opinion undersalted, overcooked and needed a hit of acidity in the form of a wine deglaze or citrus.
Tiramisu - Standard fare, can't complain, good end to the meal.
All in all, it was ok. But for the price? Go online and learn how to make it yourself. Or just go to Il Bel Paese and have no expectations of the second coming of Gennaro Contaldo.
