As those who might have read my other reviews might have noticed, I rarely write on OR unless 1) the food is really good, 2) i really have the time to, or 3) the food was utterly appalling. Unfortunately for Tea & Herb, this is the last scenario. Going all the way to North Point to try this restaurant was a big mistake.

it was fortunate that it was only afternoon tea and not lunch / dinner, and that we only ordered chocolate banana crepe (or whatever it should have been called), iced chocolate (for me) and peach tea for locust tunghok.

To begin with, as shown in the photo, the crepe was so thin and dry that it kept falling apart. The only bit of chocolate in the *chocolate* banana crepe was the bit on top; there was no banana in the crepe (except the slices aligned along the rim of the plate). To make things worse, some dim-witted chef / staff decided that it is a good idea to put BLUEBERRY JAM (which I really don't like) in the crepe (which I hated). It was such toil to get through that crepe that it almost ruined my day (fortunately, our meals at the other restaurants on the day were way better...).

The crepe has pretty much set the tone of our afternoon tea. The iced chocolate I ordered was so tasteless that I had difficulty telling what I was actually drinking. It was, however, a stroke of genius (of myself
) that I didn't bother to mix that half glass of cream with the already tasteless chocolate, which salvaged its flavour somewhat. I would, however, recommend everyone I know NOT to risk their appetite on this iced chocolate.

Locust tunghok's peach tea has served as a well-matched conclusion to our afternoon tea. In a cup of not-really-boiling not-really-full-either water floated a pathetic teabag. The smell was OK but the taste was nonexistent. And they didn't even provide a refill OF WATER when that cup of "tea" was finished.

Final word: Their lunch / dinner might be better, which I have no ground to comment on. However, based on our experience this time, I won't be going back here. Not in a million years.

), 而圍邊的香蕉就帶點苦澀, 要搽大量 cream 先可入口. 整體只有 XYZ 3 個字母, 真 xyz


環境其實亦唔多好 hea, 多得「一流」的 ventilation, 離開時成身 pasta 味


每人丟了 $40 落海, 出到門口仍然 xyz 緊

剛巧有從澳門過來的舊同事(做過煙腸都算是同事吧)過來公司,就順道一起吃飯了。心想著前幾天試過這裡的午餐,一於再試試晚餐吧,反正價格也說不上很貴。其實餐牌可以說是一樣的,只不過是有些由SET LUNCH轉為SET DINNER,而是日我則點了客NEW ZEALAND 肉眼 (6o.z.)作主菜,而是日餐湯則為蕃茄甘筍湯。蕃茄甘筍湯的顏色看下來真的很好,相信是那種甘筍的顏色較鮮。由於幾位同事都不怎麼喜歡蕃茄但本人則很喜歡,他們都認為這個湯很酸,但我則認為這個酸度仍可以接受,而且蕃茄的味道很濃郁,但甘筍的味道則在隱藏在番茄後面,也算有一點點的層次感。試過了餐湯之後,一塊五成熟的肉眼扒(配什菌燒汁)也很快上菜了。個人認為這塊肉眼扒的份量真的比較少,再加上配菜的沙律的份量也較少,感覺這個主菜真的有點單薄。肉眼扒方面,雖然是點了五成熟,但由於算是薄切的關係,明顯牛扒己有7成熟了 ... ... 雖說牛扒配這個醬汁的配搭是挺不錯的,但個人認為牛扒的質素卻不是非常高。吃過了主菜後大家在考慮去哪裡加碼的同時,想到也有餐茶 ...... 真的很想試試他們的茶究竟是否那麼好,但晚上吸取咖啡因卻會令自己難以入

總算是試過他們的晚餐,經過兩次用膳,個人認為相比起他們的食物,這個餐廳的飲品更能引起我的興趣,所以相信這餐廳應該是個吃下午茶的好地方,但要是吃正餐的話,同區還有更多更好的選擇。

這個主菜,雖然不算是很難吃,但個人並不推薦這道菜喇。

終於到了咖啡或茶的時間,由於當天並不太想喝茶,所以就點了凍咖啡。比較有驚喜的是,第1口雖然是有點苦澀的味道,但喝下去就能感覺到濃滑的味道。這杯咖啡可算是整頓飯比較令我回味的部份。

雖然這次並未一試他們的茶,但發覺原來咖啡也真不錯。

1) Onion Soup - No signs of any Gruyere cheese and Crouton. Toasts for all soups come separately on a plate. The onion soup lacked onion and in fact any taste, no depth, some previously 'completely blackened/burnt onion' remained in the soup from the caramelisation of the onion's process. Unbelievable.
How can Onion soup not come with either Pastry tops or Croutons with Gruyere, but instead come with blackened onions, yet still have no taste?
2) Tuna 'Nicose' Salad - Well technically its called Nicoise Salad but the menu says otherwise. Which I'm really 'glad' they had spelt it wrong because this salad was nowhere close to a real nicoise..
Canned Tuna was shredded into a million pieces instead of chunks.. Therefore it was like eating minced tinned tuna. Boiled eggs were ok if a bit over-boiled.
Salad leafs and beans were fresh, but dressing was wrong. It was too acidic type of Vinaigrette/Lemon dressing, without signs of any balance or EVOO olive oil - this vinaigrette type of dressing was ultimately too sour to suit this dish.
No signs of any boil potatoes either, a preresquisite in a Nicoise salad together with beans. Wouldn't mind a little bit of seeded mustard to go with it either.
$65. You're kidding me.
3) Linguini Pasta with Mushrooms and Truffle Sauce. Around $80 from memory?
This usually can't be stuffed up but here they did so badly.
The mushrooms were mostly 'chinese' mushrooms believe it or not, without much seasoning or taste.
Linguini was ok but in between aldente and too soft.
The so called Truffle sauce meanwhile had absolutely no taste - Obviously, just like in the most of HK's so called Western restaurants, the so called 'with Truffle' or 'Truffle sauce' aren't even the real deal... They're just a type of Mushroom Salsa with a bit of Truffle essence thrown in, usually the aromatic taste eaters detect is from the minced Champignon mushrooms inside, not real Black Truffles. Real truffle does not taste like that at all. Anyway, I fail to understand why here, they did not even had any 'fake' truffle taste, let alone real ones.
Completely tasteless.
4) Tea - That was the highlight of the night. Really good quality red tea given after the meal.

I will probably come here for breakfasts again - but as for dinner, definitely not again. The quality is way worst than places like Al Dente or Antipasto, and those aren't even that good anyway.

今天絕對係行程緊密嘅一天,上午陪朋友到跑馬地睇樓,接著到九龍培正一帶與朋友家人一起午膳,再到廟街玉石市場陪朋友買玉器。為咗應付咁緊密嘅行程,一個比較豐富嘅早餐係十分重要的。朋友提議到蜆殼街嘅一間小舖頭一齊食早餐,筆者當然無任歡迎啦。原來此店是openrice本年候選最佳西餐廳之一,見店內裝飾雅致,一派優閑之風格,顧客都悠然自得翻閱餐廳所提供嘅報紙雜誌。雖然行程緊湊,筆者都不得不稍微放慢步伐。望一望餐牌,有數款早餐供選擇,筆者叫了最喜歡嘅egg benedict,太座則點了炒雜菇及煙肉。Egg benedict嘅poached egg 烚得剛好,蛋白剛好變成固體,仍十分滑,蛋黃仍能保持液態,用嚟蘸麵包,十分可口。Hollandaise sauce 牛油味重但檸檬酸味唔明顯,係筆者的那杯茶,如果廚師可以慷慨一些,落多少少sauce,更合筆者心意。太座嘅早餐,簡單的雜菇帶點牛油香味,煙肉煎得有少少脆,炮製得對辦。享受完整份早餐,再來一杯香濃嘅熱咖啡,十分滿足。這裡嘅mocha朱古力味偏濃,咖啡味顯得偏淡,係可以改善嘅地方。每人平均消費八十多元,價錢亦屬合理範圍。

I coincidently bumped into Shell Street even I am living nearby. And it is surprised to see many foreigners on weekends and it is difficult to get a walk-in table. So I decide to have early breakfast a week after and tempt my friends to be there with me. It was a breakfast set with toast, soup/salad, drink. It was a breakfast set with toast, soup/salad, drink. I always like this kind of utensils, haha - with brown sugar cubes placed in round transparent pot.

The salad is fresh while the soup is above standard. As for the main course, actually I think it is a very full breakfast since the portion is not small, yet I just think it is a bit oily and salty.

So my big appreciation is the cup of coffee, even my frd's tea has quite a strong aroma that I can smell it too. Btw, their Earl Grey is quite good, I bought it home and really nice
that it is a nice to have by adding honey

By the way, if you like sour thingy like me, u should try on the lemon tart. Just that it is quite small, yet the lemon favor is sour enough and it is entitled as my favorite


Also, their lunch set also nice. Luckily I got a walk-in table once and had their steak. However, my main concern is the after coffee instead. The steak is above standard at that price range.

Overall speaking, it is recommended anytime!

一月上旬下午茶是日心情沉重,七時許仍在等候指示,與其在街邊吃風,乾脆找些甜品來減壓,附近有幾間Cafe,但坐得舒服一點的,印象中就得這間。不算雅致裝潢,但佈置著大量古雅茶杯、銀製保溫壺同各式各樣花茶,老闆娘是位茶癡,她是日坐定定看報紙,女侍應送來餐牌,簡介是日甜品後,要了椰子熱情果蛋糕,一杯伯爵茶。未到晚市,這裡也比較靜,打開電腦Check下FB,未待確認好明日行程,侍應已送來蛋糕,兩層式的忌廉蛋糕,上層是椰子、下層是熱情果,加上厚實的瑪莉餅底,伴以椰子慕絲,樣子是老老實實,兩層忌廉結實了一點,比較喜歡上層,因為夠甜~熱情果帶著天然的酸,因為先吃了椰子,感覺就更酸,不是說酸不好,但個人還是比較喜歡甜到死的甜品,瑪莉餅底是實而軟腍,一般,伴碟的慕絲加上朱古力,很甜很討好。閒坐一回,又跟老闆娘談起近況,談食再加上椰子甜品化學作用,心情好好多了,伯爵茶只是普通得不得了的茶包,喝上了兩壺,精神好了一點,接過來電,今天要忙的事也不能留待明天處理,趕工去,辛苦之後,希望兩天美食之旅,有多點斬獲。老闆娘有心經營,下次來會喝杯花茶,談談軼事,又看看會否遇到薛國興。

栗子湯帶甜, 打的很滑, 有水準。

我帶了本雜誌出來看的 (當然這裡也有), 但今天人多, 雜誌都給拿去不少, 正好拿來消磨時間。老弟的班尼迪蛋看樣子當然很吸引, 但我還要等我的三文魚卷, 所以就沒有吃了。看完幾本雜誌後, 還未見我的主菜 ... 那是工夫菜, 瞭解的; 於是無聊的我看到餐牌上有應節飲品, 便叫了杯 Sangria ($28) 飲住先, 高興下 。

過了近半小時, 連弟弟都已吃完他的餐點, 三文魚酥皮卷終於來了! 賣相勁靚, 有兩件如保雲蘇牛柳製法的酥皮, 捲著菠菜和三文魚, 伴以煎新薯和雜菜。酥皮香脆而不膩, 配以清淡的三文魚菠菜, 這道菜可算是連日節日大食滯之後的一道調劑; 要彈的, 便是三文魚焗的有點太老, 但這樣的做法也預計了會是這樣的了。倒是伴邊的雜菜如意大利青瓜等, 焗過之後很柔軟, 蔬果的鮮甜味也因而彰顯出來; 新薯皮香肉粉, 也不俗。

是日的伯爵茶很是香濃, 連老弟都不禁問是什麼茶來的! 是日老闆娘 Candy 也御駕親征, 我也不忘讚讚她的茶。但我本來想用它來醒酒的作用就似乎辦不到, 結果有點醉醺醺地回家去。

餐茶我要了日本甜栗,有少少栗子味,聞比飲更好!
下次還是試試pasta 類!

We went there on Sunday 9pm, we are the only ppl in the restaurant.We order a pasta and a 'cheese risotto'...the risotto was great esp for those cheese manic!!!Then the milk tea is very good too, it is the best one outside the 'HK style tea restaurant'There is a very nice waitress there, sharing with us the goodies in the menusAnd there is no 10 services charge!Must go again!!!! Next time will try the all-time breakfast

廚房另有一個西班牙巨婦, 難道她就是煮出這兒的美味歐洲菜之重要人物.

還有2星期的悠閒生活, 下月再次披甲上陣, 回歸熟識的戰場.

終於跟“他”見面了。就在下個個約會之前﹐匆匆安排了這個約會﹐也特意約他到了這間餐廳 -- 雖然他最後也沒有叫 Earl Grey...我叫的 Tomato Soup -- 非常濃郁的蕃茄香味﹐酸酸的﹐醒胃。接著叫了 all-day-breakfast -- eggs benedict with smoked salmon -- 非常喜歡這店沒有放太多 hollanaise sauce﹐沒有把蛋把麵飽都淹沒﹔麵飽好像很小﹐但跟蛋和三文魚一起吃又覺份量剛好。我爭扎了一會﹐還是叫了 Latte -- 一個笑臉 Latte﹐把我逗笑了。還買了一些 Ahssam 茶 -- 老闆娘真的沒有介紹錯﹐用這種茶葉沖的奶茶特別好喝。多謝“他”跟我的這一次聚會﹐不知下次見面又是什麼時候呢?

六點多來到,原來這裡是沒分甚麼時間,還是可以叫輕食的。叫了crepe set,說是生果crepe, 幻想中應該是crepe內有很多生果...原來是crepe 加生果分開...生果新鮮,crepe 皮有蛋香,有一少部份煎得過了火。原來入面係士多啤梨果醬,對我來說太甜了。不過要說服務很好,當crepe上來時,另一位侍應問我要不要加多點朱古力醬,加完之後果然成碟都係醬。另外d 茶亦十分之好,有很多不同茶可以選,irish breakfast tea 配奶果然一流~看其他食家的評語,下次還是來試breakfast 和其他茶好一點。
