Sesame Fenpi 麻醬粉皮 $29
They have a lunch menu from 12-5:30 every weekday and I managed to get in on that. So instead of $42, my bowl of noodles were $37. The noodles took so long to arrive that I ordered a side dish to satisfy my hunger.
These fenpi are unlike the thick and long ones at other Shanghai restaurants, these are thin and curled up with minimal chew. I personally prefer the thicker ones 😅 but the sesame sauce is really thick and savoury. I think they should have diluted it as it became a paste and hard to eat with the noodles. The cucumbers are more like a small handful of thinly sliced cucumber and there was certainly not enough to balance out the rich sauce.

Tomato Egg Noodle Soup蕃茄雞蛋湯麵 $37
As for the noodles, they were fantastic! The soup is rich with tomato flavour without being too sweet and the use of ketchup was well controlled. I also really enjoyed the thick and plump pieces of tomato which make the whole dish very fresh. The egg is given generously with many thick pieces of well-seasoned and firm egg. I will say that the soup is on the thick side is kinda glooped together with the noodles, so I just ate this like 撈麵. The noodles lack bite and is on the soft side but fortunately, it is not mushy. Very generous portion too and definitely worth the price.
