好耐無踫上過一間用極品形容既餐廳。話說一家人去完演藝學院睇兒童話劇後,太太建議改吃西餐,坐得舒適一點,而新堡餐廳正正就位處巴士站,方便就腳,而且店內客人不多,一家四口佔了卡位剛剛好。店內裝潢大概似土瓜灣的哥登堡之流,有點回到六七十年代的感覺。睇睇Menu同牆上水牌,晚餐只介乎一百蚊左右,對於精打細算的太太而言,價位恰到好處。未知是否家族式經營,由樓面到廚房都是懶懶閒,沒精打彩的,都算了,之後還有更離譜的事。羅宋湯酸度一般,茄膏下得未夠重手,菜蔬煲得夠軟腍,倒也好吃。餐前的蒜蓉包烘得不慍不火,邊位看不到焦香的痕跡,口感打了折扣。法式焗田螺不在套餐內,一份六粒,多數都是現成貨,略為用薯蓉置底,然後放入焗爐烤過便算,肉質鬆散,味道又淡。秘製龍蝦汁焗海鮮飯賣相慘不忍睹,材料雜亂無章,東一舊、西一堆,最簡單的功夫,將飯面蓋過都馬馬夫夫,已經心知不妙,結果部份飯粒乾巴巴,部份海鮮又沾不上醬汁,幸好能得到醬汁寵幸的飯粒,味道還不錯,至少龍蝦味夠香。布根地紅酒燴牛脷又是賣相出事,四五片牛脷只懂得向上發展,有如死屍堆埋一齊,下面求其放點翠玉瓜及薯條就算,大廚的審美眼光,在下是不敢恭維;不過牛脷大大片又軟

全晚最出事的澳洲牛小排特濃燒汁,又是求其層層叠,都算了,明明千叮萬囑要medium rare,但只憑肉眼目測,都知道超過十成熟,因為整塊牛小排是煎燶左,無錯,千真萬確煎燶左,但由廚房到樓面竟然無人理會,照樣奉客,在下相信這叫趕客!在下還天真地以為溝通出問題,點知樓面竟然講句:「今日跑馬日,水準係有D出入!」如果當時兩位囝囝行開左,在下真係會忍唔住爆粗;廚房不負責任,只顧賭馬已經離譜,店主或樓面明知而不理就更過份,最後莽顧客人,照樣serve,直情要black list。同樓面即時反映後,唯有死死氣拎入廚房再煎過;不經意地望望廚房,只聽見傳來陣陣收音機聲,廚師依然在賭馬。
