It was a long long time before our last afternoon tea set experience. We had to celebrate a special event and decided to choose 香港港麗酒店樂聚廊Lobby Lounge after doing some research online! We were attracted by the discount and the free gift so booked and prepaid in advance. I was really quite looking forward to the day !
Although we didn't get window seats, we got a big three seated sofa with lots of big cushions, two single seated sofa chairs, and a long sofa seated stool. The ceilings were not high but the furniture and interior decorations were very elegant and made one feel very comfortable.
High quality paper envelopes were placed on the table for us to keep our masks. Being hygienic really implied somewhat being environmentally unfriendly unfortunately.
A server volunteered to introduce the food for the afternoon set as stated on the menu to us in quite some details and explained the drinks to us.

Peach Fizzante (non alcoholic) (peach, soda, fresh mint) (included in set)
In addition to the normal coffee or tea, a specialty drink could be chosen and it was Peach Fizzante as the theme of the afternoon tea set included peach. No wonder there were some peach items on the menu. It was not overly sweet at all and was pretty refreshing with light peach flavour and mint. Another Peach Fizzante with alcohol was essentially the same just with vodka added.

Wild Beauty親暱自然美下午茶
As the meal was for a celebration, they had kindly prepared a thin chocolate plate with a tailored made message at our prior request. It has been removed by myself in this photo given the personal message. Unlike the Peninsula, there was no candle. It took a while for this afternoon tea set to arrive.
There were 3 types of sandwiches, 3 types of savouries and 6 types of wild confections.

Sandwiches (from left to right): Parma Ham on Saffron Buns, Cucumber and Cream Cheese on Spinach and Cress Toast, Marinated Tuna with Lemon Butter and Herbs on Toasted Brioche
The 3 sandwiches were of above average quality in general. I loved the Parma Ham on Saffron Buns most as the parma ham was very fresh and perfectly salty and the bun was soft and yummy while it had an appealing yellow colour. I also liked the Marinated Tuna with Lemon Butter and Herbs on Toasted Brioche as the tuna was well dressed while the brioche was reasonably crunchy. The Cucumber and Cream Cheese on Spinach and Cress Toast was special in terms of design but most of the flavour was masked by the cucumber.

Savouries (from left to right): Roasted Altantic Cod in Marinara Sauce, Quiche Florentine, Tomato and Herbs Puff
The 3 savouries were also of above average quality. I loved the Roasted Altantic Cod in Marinara Sauce most as the cod was very well roasted, tender, juicy and fresh in a yummy fresh tomato sauce. It was placed on a very pretty spoon and could be eaten in one sip. I also liked the Tomato and Herbs Puff which smelt so good and was so crispy with rich flavour of tomato and herbs! The Quiche Florentine was relatively less attractive but I appreciated how it was not overly salty like those normal quiche out there. The base was not particularly thick nor crunchy.

Wild Confections (from left to right): Almond and Pistachio Creme Brulee Tart, Black Sesame Macaron, Ruby Peach and Lavender Cream Gateau, Butter Shortbread, Strawberry and Lemon Napoleon
The sweet treats were also of above average quality. I liked the Black Sesame Macaron most as it was super super rich in black sesame and not overly sweet, not to mention its appealing wild life look. The Strawberry and Lemon Napoleon was fresh and crispy yet not overly greasy. The lemon custard was not too sour and was a bit like normal vanilla custard. The Butter shortbread had a nice wild life picture on it and it was so buttery and crunchy. The Almond and Pistachio Creme Brulee Tart and the Ruby Peach and Lavender Cream Gateau were both very smooth. There was some pink jelly inside the gateau, which was quite rich in lavender.

Plain and Raisin Scones with Homemade strawberry and rose jam, Devonshire clotted cream
They offered to serve us the scones and the Peach Melba Cup with Vanilla Cream when we had almost finished the tea set, maybe because the scones had to be served hot while the Peach Melba Cup had to be served on ice. But when the scones were served, they were not so hot. We asked for reheating them but they were not hot enough either. The scones were ok but not particularly pleasing. They were a bit like bread but not fully risen. They were not buttery enough either. The clotted cream was very disappointing as it was not particularly fatty nor creamy enough. The strawberry and rose jam was better as they contained real strawberry flesh although not too rich in rose.

The Peach Melba Cup with Vanilla Cream was quite petite but served decently on a bowl of ice cubes. There were quite a few pieces of peach, which were quite juicy and naturally sweet, together with 1 slice of raspberry jelly topped by vanilla cream and almond slices. It was quite refreshing.
Two packs of Chantecaille Wild Beauty尊貴護膚體驗套裝 were delivered to us during our meal.
Service was no doubt top notch and seating was very comfortable with a nice environment. Unfortunately there was no live band during our visit although the piano and musical instruments were there.
For such quality of food, service and environment, this offer was really great value for money! Compared with other 5-starred hotel afternoon tea sets, the sweet items were comparable with those at Island ShangriLa/Four Seasons/MO or even Le Salon De The de Joel Robuchon and better than those at the Peninsula. The savoury items were also comparable but maybe a bit less elaborate than those at Island ShangriLa/Le Salon De The de Joel Robuchon but a lot better than those average sandwiches offered at MO and even those at Peninsula. Regarding scones, they were very disappointing though, but maybe still better than the worst scones I had at Tiffin. The best scones could be found at Island ShangriLa and probably Four Seasons still.
