To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 參與家人請嘅兩枱生日晚飯,本身唔知食乜亦冇乜要求。當食完緊乳豬就已經上埋蝦、湯,我哋問吓待應生可以上慢少少嗎,我哋食唔切。有一位男待應生同我哋講“我要同你哋打定針,廚房已經出緊餸,如果要慢啲先上餸之後要等耐啲..”。我哋聽完之後雖然唔太開心但都同佢講”咁跟你啦”。之後,我哋發現另一枱嘅家人已經食緊另外三四度菜,而我哋食完蝦、湯之後差不多成10-15分鐘都一直未上過一樣菜。好自然會問吓嗰位男待應生,佢竟然話係我哋叫起慢啲,我哋當然否應而佢亦冇理會我哋行開去。因為今晚係有家人請食飯兼生日飯,我哋冇再進問落去,唯有等佢哋上乜就食乜。跟住陸續上菜,所有嘅菜除咗蟹鉗之外全都只係暖嘅唔熱、而喺蝦、湯上嘅竟然係糯米飯同埋麵,之後再上鷄、魚等。我哋相信佢哋上菜係有乜上乜而唔係跟隔離枱或者一般嘅次序。喺過年呢幾日食過幾次差唔多嘅過年餸,一般人都會懂得乜嘢菜係好同唔好。我同全枱嘅親人都絕對同意以上嘅評價。我相信「八月花」作為大集團嘅食肆理應提供較優質嘅服務、較好嘅食物質素,而個地方都幾舒適。今晚嘅經驗真係令我哋非常失望;尤其係呢餐飯係慶祝我哋一位老人家嘅生日。
