To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 面對全球4個多月的新冠肺炎疫情肆虐,很多香港人都擔心受到感染而足不出戶,居家抗疫,從而令到很多香港的餐飲業因受疫情影響,紛紛出現放無薪假,停工,裁員,甚至受不住沒有生意下結業及倒閉,而本月初限聚令實施後,疫情稍為緩和,很多市民都急不及待出外活動舒展身心,外出食飯透透氣。而本人經常到荃灣廣場一間食肆美中鴨子用餐時,雖然此店之前在疫情下生意減少不少,但因為商場和店舖也辦了很多優惠,生意反而大大的增加,門外經常有食客在等候位置,而員工在沒有足夠人手下,也辛勤地默默工作,為的是想追回之前疫情影響下失去的生意額,眼見樓面只有4名員工,卻要招待30多枱客人,由帶位要量體溫,落單,沖茶,執枱,消毒,傳菜等不停地跑來跑去,本人見到也深受感動,而其中有一枱食客因為未等到片皮鴨而大發怨言,雖知道此店在推出半價優惠後,每枱食客也落單排隊等候,但這枱食客卻是剛點不到半句鐘卻不停責怪員工,員工除要面對人手不足的壓力外,又要應付不耐煩的客人,本人看見的是他們的敬業精神,專業的服務態度實在令人敬佩,餐飲業本身也不是一個討好受歡迎的行業,工時長又需要長時間體力勞動,很多年青人也不願意入行,香港經歷過去年的社會運動,到
