To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

To promote a new salt and sugar reduction (RSS) dietary culture and living style to the people of Hong Kong, the Environment and Ecology Bureau, the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food and the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department have launched the "Less-Salt-and-Sugar Restaurants Scheme" ("Scheme"). Restaurants participated in the Scheme will offer less salt or sugar options to the consumer or even tailor-make less salt or sugar dishes in designated restaurants. Participating restaurants will be granted with the Scheme Labels for displaying in the premises for public identification. 一念素食絕對係讀大學時最喜愛嘅食堂,百周年校舍開幕以來,陸續開設不同社企小店,而一念更係HKU首間提供純素嘅食店。店內嘅椅子都係從學校回收來再翻生重用的,裝飾也是用棄置的廢物再合成一件又一件獨一無二的擺設。雖然佢坐位真係算少,碰上翻學日子午餐時段必定坐無虛席,不過下午茶或晚餐時間,通常都有位,不用等太久。介紹番佢最聞名嘅覺醒自助餐先,午餐11:30-2:00,晚餐5:30-9:00。午餐選擇的確會較多,而且餸嘅味道會偏濃烈,而晚餐有時也會有炸春捲或腐皮捲,不過要看運氣。自助餐形式是先拿一隻碟,把想要的菜式夾上去,通常有十二道餸,例如:茄子、蕃茄豆卜、南瓜等,亦有一些點心,例如:燒賣、冬瓜捲、雜菜餃等。選好菜後就磅重俾錢,食幾多夾幾多!現時價錢是:$16/100g,香草紅米飯和素清湯是任裝的,學生時代的確覺得一念頗貴,但出來工作後就覺得$50-60可以吃到如此別緻而且用心做嘅食材,認為絕對值得!如果香港多啲食店都選用磅重形式,絕對可以減少浪費,而且每人都可以更加瞭解自己真正食量需求,避免眼闊肚窄。
