To encourage eatery outlets to reduce food waste at source together with customers through offering portioned meals and adopting food waste reduction measures, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Food Wise Eateries” Scheme. Participants will be awarded with a Food Wise Eateries (FWE) accreditation status if they comply with the assessment criteria and will be granted with the FWE Logo and Stickers for displaying in the premises and their promotion for public identification. Applications are accepted all year round and are FREE of charge.

Croissants. Always popular in Hong  Kong. There are some places so popular, they have long queues of people waiting for it to come fresh out of the oven. One place is this: Big Grains. There wasn't much of a queue but there was a chaotic dash to grab from everyone around me. Curious, I got one.

Price? $24. It wasn't as big as the other places that are also popular for this. But price range was more than Bakehouse and the same prices as Gotran Cherrier. I expected a lot. Perhaps I expected too much.


First off, when I pulled it apart, it was extremely chewy. The outer coating was extremely flakey.  But the first thing I couldn't taste was butter. There didn't seem to be enough of it? Boyfriend couldn't taste it either. It seemed more like the flakey pastries sold at Chinese bakeries where butter isn't used much. Definitely over rated especially for the price they were charging.
