I happened to have some errands to run at iSQUARE so decided to pop into baby cafe for some afternoon tea. I have never tried the cafe before even though I have seen it all around town as I didn't think the food would be any good here. The restaurant was big and spacious with chic black and white decor. LED picture frames of Angelababy lined one side of the wall while several bird cage like dining tables lined the other. The appearance of the restaurant was not bad but what about the food? The af

The afternoon tea menu consisted of mostly savory dishes like pastas and sandwiches, and only one dessert. The prices were pretty reasonable as well. Since I was craving for something sweet, I ended up ordering the only dessert dish on the menu which was the pancake with syrup and ice cream.

Pancake with Okinawa Black Sugar Syrup + Ice Cream ($39) - the pancake arrived pretty fast but unfortunately they were hard and lukewarm. Obviously not freshly made and plastic in texture. Pancakes should be light and fluffy and these were the complete opposite. I mean McDonalds can make a better pancake than this. The black sugar syrup was actually alright as it was not too sweet. The ice cream was too hard for pleasant eating. Overall, this was one shoddy quality dessert.

Latte (+$6) - the afternoon tea came with a coffee or tea for an additional $6 so I ordered a latte. At first glance, it looked promising with some nice patterns on the milk foam. Then I took my first sip and the foam was surprisingly cold. I realized then that the foam was just scooped on top of the expresso and the difference in temperature between the two made the latte unpleasant to drink. To the experienced coffee drinker, this was a big no no.

The appearance of the restaurant was charming at first to create a nice dining ambiance while the service was adequate. Unfortunately they did not excel in the one area that is crucial to a restaurant which is the quality and taste of their food.
