I was very excited that Chez Patrick had opened Chez Patrick Deli in Wanchai. I had dined in Chez Patrick and loved my experience there so I was looking forward to the Deli. I was very excited that Chez Patrick had opened Chez Patrick Deli in Wanchai. I had dined in Chez Patrick and loved my experience there so I was looking forward to the Deli. I went there for lunch with hubby. It was a pretty cool space and the service was pretty decent. We both had the set lunch. 3 courses of soup, mains and coffee or tea for $125 + 10%. The creamy mushroom soup was delicious, perfectly seasoned, not overly creamy and hot, yummy. My husband had sole with mussel cream sauce, steam rice and roasted zucchini and sautéed cabbages, he said it was just pedestrian. I had ordered the corn fed roasted chicken with potatoes gratineed, roasted zucchini and sautéed cabbages. The chicken was tasty and tender, unfortunately it was barely warm and the sauce was cold, the potatoes' texture was gloppy, gluey and it was just tepid. The zucchini was soggy. I think that the food was cooked way way in advance and left to sit . Since I only ate the chicken and not the sides I was still hungry so I ordered dessert. I was thrilled they had chocolate eclairs, my favourite. Unfortunately, the pastry was stodgy and soggy, it wasn't fresh made and tasted like it had sat in the refrigerator for days and I only took a bite. The waiter came by and I told him that the eclair was just not good. He took it away and the manager came by and ask me what was wrong and I explained it to him and then he just turned and walked away. We asked for the bill and when it came the eclair was still on it, I can't believe they had the audacity to do that. I guess $45 was more important then a customer's satisfaction. In the end we paid $407 for our bad cafeteria lunch. If you are in Wanchai and looking for a place to lunch, don't waste your money on Chez Patrick Deli. I would have been happier with Subway just around the corner or go to The Pawn where the food is consistently good or even Frites next door. There are too many other good restaurants then to waste your money and time on Chez Patrick Deli, suffice to say, we will not be going back or any of our friends.
