Wait. Wasn't there a place called Bana Bana in Mong Kok that does the same thing? Yes. There is but this one is the original. Personally, I have yet to try Bana Bana so I can't really compare which one is better. But as I live closer to Causeway Bay, I decided to try this one.

The price is original  for $38 and squeeze for $42. If you are too lazy to create your own, they have pre-designed bottled versions.

Instructions are easy. Grab a container. Green is for original. Red is for  squeeze. Stick three ingredients that you find on the wall into the containers. There are some ingredients that can only be used fro original only and not for squeeze. Take your order to the counter. Pay in cash. When they finish blending your creation, they'll call out your number.

All the ingredients are found on the wall in small little blocks reminiscent of toy building blocks. All are labelled in English along with the calories, what vitamins it will provide you with and if you will get any fiber. There is a wide range of choices between fruit and vegetables. They even had yogurt!

Now, you may be wondering: what is the difference between original and squeeze? Why does squeeze cost more?

The first time I came, I ordered an original ($38).

This is my order: pomengranate, blueberry and pear.

They gave me back a print out of my order that told me that this 12 oz (approximately 350 mL) cup had 158 calories, lots of fiber, a bit of potassium and some vitamin C. You can give feedback on your creation by noting the on beesket score. Because as you know ... if the flavors don't work, that's your problem. You made it. But keep the printout. On the back is a coupon for 10% a squeeze version if you choose orange and grapefruit on weekdays.

The original version comes in a cup and the combination is blended. It was pretty good had a decent amount of pulp to chew on. It didn't seem like they added water to water it down. It was just all fruit juice!

A while later, I returned to see what squeeze was all about. I ordered a squeeze ($42) that consisted of the following: beetroot, pineapple and carrot.

My printout told me that it would be 250 mL (less volume than the original version) and this would be 85 calores, This was even healthier! Lots of fiber, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B1 and vitamin B2!!

This arrived in a very sturdy plastic bottle that you could probably clean and reuse again. I'm unsure why it had a pear label on it, but I assume they don't make individual labels for the bottles. So, what you get is a create your own freshly cold pressed juice. There wasn't any pulp. Just a clean juice. Absolutely delicious and it was packed with fruit.

A great value for money as you do get exactly what you order. Nothing is watered down. And for the health conscience, it lets you know what you are putting into your body. A great new addition to the juice scene in Causeway Bay.
