My first review at Openrice will go to Sushi Hiro 10/f at Henry House. Went there at around 7pm with my family and since we are regulars there, we sat at the bar table and went for the omakase menu.We had many items over the night but I will only review some of the highlights: (in no particular order)1) Seared Kamatoro Sushi - Kamatoro is a little known part of Tuna from near the collar area. We had many items over the night but I will only review some of the highlights: (in no particular order)
1) Seared Kamatoro Sushi - Kamatoro is a little known part of Tuna from near the collar area. Not only is it very rare, it is even more delicious than Otoro! I highly recommend everyone to try. (Slightly grilled to balance the fattiness) 2) Kinmedai Sashimi - The Kinmedai was wrapped with a kind of pickled veg that really complimented well with the fish. 3) Uni Gunkan - The chef brushed some soy sauce on top so we didn't need to dip in soy ourselves. Very fresh and delicious with long after-taste. 4) Grilled Toro Tendon - (Not sure if this is the right term as I translated it directly from Cantonese) This was really good, grilling it gave it more flavour and went really well with our sake. 5) Baby Tuna - Baby Tuna is different from the regular Bluefin Tuna which can be too oily sometimes. This strikes a good balance between texture and fat 6) Japanese Hairy Crab - I am a lazy person and appreciate that the chefs removed all the meat and roe for me to enjoy. The chef added some vinegar to enhance the sweetness of the crab meat. Overall, I had a good dining experience at Sushi Hiro. The food was great and service attentive.
The only bad thing was near the end of the dinner a tiny cockroach crept up onto the table . The staff quickly dealt with it but it affected the overall dining experience .
Overall: 7.5/10
Recommended: Yes
Suggestions: Improve hygiene practice so diners won't have unexpected "guests" arriving at their table
