Really good Vietnamese in Hong Kong is fairly hard to find. However, this one place is worth a detour. Located in Shek Kip Mei, near JCACC, is this small shop serving various Vietnamese street style food. You even have to sit on the sidewalk. There is no indoor seating. Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English but they do have photos of the food on one wall. You pay cash only and there is no 10% service charge. This is a grilled pork cold vermicelli bowl ($32). This is a grilled pork cold vermicelli bowl ($32). The pork was juicy and moist. It tasted like the grilled meat I had on the streets of Hanoi. The fish sauce was fairly ok and mixing it with the vermicelli, it all held together well.

We shared a plate of spring rolls ($22). These were excellent. Not too oily but yet crispy and not chewy at all. As they were made to order, they were also piping hot when they arrived.

An excellent Vietnamese place worth a detour.  Prices are cheap. I'll be back if in the area.
