We were in the area and was looking for a place that served all-day breakfast and through openrice I found a few places, I regnised Pumpernickel so I called and ask them to hold a table. I have been to the Tin Hau and Causeway Bay branches and they were both good.We ordered the classical all-day breakfast and salmon eggs Benedict, a few minutes the later the waiter came back and asked us more questions about our order, he didn’t write down all the information and forgot to ask what type of egg w
We ordered the classical all-day breakfast and salmon eggs Benedict, a few minutes the later the waiter came back and asked us more questions about our order, he didn’t write down all the information and forgot to ask what type of egg we wanted with the all-day breakfast.
After waiting for a short time the all-day breakfast came, I didn't tuck in as I wanted to start eating with my girlfriend. Then around 3-5 minutes later another all-day breakfast came along.
I looked at my girlfriend and asked I ordered a eggs benedit right? She said yes and almost immediately the waiter came back and took away the first all-day breakfast.
Allday breakfast:
Presentation wise it’s not bad, the one in the photo is of the second one that came along the first one wasn’t as well presented. The bread was good, nice and fresh. The bacon and sausage were well cooked and beans were tasty, there were small pieces of pineapple so it gave the beans an extra sweetness. Overall I rate this 7/10.
Salmon eggs Benedict:
When I order eggs Benedict the satisfaction is cutting into the egg and watching the golden yolk ozzing onto the the rest of the dish. In this case and the first time I have seen the yolk was hard, what a disappointment. This was an epic fail, if I'm not mistaken the yolk should always be runny unless specified. The hollandaise sauce, firstly there wasn’t enough sauce and secondly it wasn’t buttery or lemony enough. The best thing on this dish was the bread and smoked salmon. This dish only rates at 5/10.
Despite the fail on the eggs Benedict I will continue to eat at Pumpernickel as I like the menu and bread.
Overall 6/10 experience, points pulled down by waiter and hard yolk eggs Benedict.
