My hubby and I simply love this lil' Sichuen 私房菜. The owners being fans of designer furnitures, as expected, the decor is simple but stylish (personally, I'm unsure as to whether the eerie paintings (we guess to be the works of the owner(?)) hung on the walls go with the food or the ambience of the place). The presentation as well as the taste of their food show that the owners have put much thoughts and efforts into making authentic and delicious Sichuen cuisine, so don't expect that they'll be tailor-making your own lil' not-too-spicy version of the "water-boiled beef/eel". So be warned, it might leave u feeling peckish if u ain't a big fan for hot and spicy food. They change their cold appetizers from time to time but whatever they dish out, they never disappoint. Some of the highly popular dishes are always on the menu, like the 豆花chicken, 水煮beef or eel, red-cooked beef, chilli crab etc.
Mr Wang, the softly-spoken and attentive owner of the place, comes around regularly introducing the dishes made by his talented wife sweating off at the back kitchen, as well as Mrs Wang herself. However, services of other staff tend to be mechanical and sometimes overly attentive. And to finish off, Mrs Wang (now changed into her Issay Miyaki gear), the timid lil' cook with an inproportional soprano vocal cord will grace us with one of her village folk songs.
If you still haven't tried out this gem of 私房菜, go book NOW, it should not disappoint, unlike many of those so-called 私房菜which dare to dish out bland and overly-priced dishes and don't even bother with the decor nor installing properly-functioning air-con.
