The last time I was in Sham Shui Po, I came across a space called Green Base. It was a shared space between Moono and Alive Food Co. I took some biscuits home from Moono and said next time I'd come back for bread. Alive Food Co, not only serves artisan sourdough bread but they also sell kaboucha. All this fermented goodness.Well, that day was today and when I arrived, it was a lot busier. They now added tables for dining in where you can have toast and pancakes using sourdough. Well, that day was today and when I arrived, it was a lot busier. They now added tables for dining in where you can have toast and pancakes using sourdough. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge even if you eat there.
They hae what they serve on display. But I was here for take away.
I bought a loaf of sourdough bread ($78) and they asked if I wanted it sliced. They did but not all the way through to the bottom so you do still need to slice the rest up yourself.
It was a good hearty crust. The bread itself was nice and dense with a strong sour taste.
They included a card with instructions on what to do to reheat it and how long it will last. It was great even as left overs! I even made the ends into sourdough croutons.
Wonderful bread that was worth the price. Will definitely be back and hopefully next time there will be space enough to get a slice of toast to dine there.
