I wanted to try a couple of the dessert places in the Haven Street area, but since someone else has been blowing me off lately, I asked godbro XO to go with me.  When we got to the area, we wanted to have dinner before getting dessert, so we looked around and saw Mackie Kitchen.  I have read a few reviews on Mackie Kitchen before and always wanted to try it, so XO and I decided to have dinner here.Mackie Kitchen's decor is kind of chic with one of the walls painted a deep purple color with decor

Mackie Kitchen's decor is kind of chic with one of the walls painted a deep purple color with decorative items suspended on shelves.

We decided to go with the Set Dinner menu, and we each picked our courses.

For the appetizer, I had the Pan-Seared Goose Liver with Wine Vinegar Blueberry, which was an additional $59 with the Set Dinner.

Pan-Seared Goose Liver with Wine Vinegar Blueberry: The goose liver had a nice caramelized crust, and the blueberry sauce had the right amount of acidity to cut through the heaviness from the goose liver.  This was one of the items that drew me to Mackie Kitchen, and it didn't disappoint!

For the soup, I had the Pumpkin Soup with Crab Meat, which was an additional $38 to the Set Dinner.

The Garlic Bread that came with the soup had a crispy crust and just the right amount of garlic flavor.

Pumpkin Soup with Crabmeat: The pumpkin soup was velvety smooth and carried the natural sweetness of the pumpkin.  The crab meat added another layer to the soup's flavor profile.

Edible Crab Risotto with Black Truffle: The crab shell was filled to the brim with risotto.  The texture of the risotto is more suited for locals as it was a little too mushy for me.  This risotto was a flavor bomb bursting with creamy crab flavor, and the black truffle sauce made it very aromatic!

Our dinner came with a beverage, so I ordered the hot chocolate since it's one of the items that comes with latte art, and mine came with a cute kitten!

Hot Chocolate: The hot chocolate had a good, strong cocoa flavor, and it went down very smoothly.  The picture of the kitten remained visible until I finished my drink!

Mackie Kitchen serves very typical Western food that has been adapted to the local culture.  The food is pretty good, and I was surprised to see that a local restaurant pays so much attention to their latte art!
