I've been trying out many new cafés recently. Being around my neighborhood, Kelly and Moss had been on my wish-list for a while. So, I made it the 8th stop of my café-athon.
Since Kelly and Moss is located at the Zero Carbon Building opposite Mega Box, there is no air-conditioning.
It was a very hot afternoon and I decided to opt for an iced cappuccino just to freshen up.
There was this guy who looked a bit senior and a younger girl (who must be a trainee) over the counter and they were chit-chatting as I approached to make my order.
The following is the exact (and ridiculous) conversation I heard while I was waiting for my drink.
A: Do you want to try making this one?
B: Great. I have never made an iced cappuccino before.
...
B: Why are we using this cloth but not the other one (to clean the scoop of the machine)?
A: The other one is for cleaning dirty tables.(
?!!)
The rest of the conversation was about the amount of milk needed, what to put into the cup first, the different steps to be taken and how their Virgo boss wouldn't be happy about the way she made the coffee blah blah blah.
Here comes the worst part-- somehow, the girl poured in too much milk and it kind of spilt all over the place. I was expecting them to make me another one but they didn't. Before I got my drink, the guy only wiped the cup slightly and I was a bit hesitant but I took it anyway.
As you can see it was a cup of ice cappucino with poor presentation. Apparently, there was too much foam and the proportion of milk to coffee wasn't right.

The coffee itself was just like any other cup of coffee. They actually didn't even ask whether I wanted sugar in my coffee (probably it would be hard to remove the lid?).

Actually, I don’t mind being served by trainees at all. Just that as a paying customer, I believe I deserved something better. It was totally unacceptable that they made me the guinea pig and gave me an "experimental" cappucino.

To be honest, I prefer those commercial coffee from Starbucks a lot more than this I got from Kelly and Moss -- at least I know I will be served by someone who has received some basic training, and that I won’t be drinking a cup of coffee made from a machine cleaned with a dirty cloth.
