For our third and final celebratory dinner for godbro XO becoming the Wanchai district specialist, it has finally come to my pick.  Me, being the Korean BBQ enthusiast, I picked Meokbang as the destination for our adventure.  There are plenty of Korean BBQ places around, but not many offer ganjang gejang (soy sauce marinated raw crabs), so Meokbang it is.  I chose this particular location since godbro prefers to drive, and it is easier to find parking around Heard Street.  Also, the Meokbang ban

Also, the Meokbang banner has been staring at me for a while everytime I had to sit in traffic on the Canal Road overpass.  For our final adventure, there were, of course, the 3 troopers, godbro XO, Mr Ken, and me, and this time, my older godbro, godbro Garfield, joined us as well!

The decor of the restaurant was quite interesting, they had Korean posters on the walls, and there were blackboards on the walls and those had drawings of food on them.  We were seated by the window, and the stools that we sat on had removable tops where we could stash our belongings.

Since there were 4 of us, we decided to order the BBQ meat set for 2 and add a couple of dishes.  Also, when I made the reservation, I reserved 2 crabs to share between the 4 of us.

The server started our grill and filled it with the egg and kimchi in one compartment and the cheese and corn in the other compartment.  They also gave us the salad, sides, and lettuce wraps.  They told us that there are unlimited refills on the egg, cheese, sides, and lettuce.

Our meal came with 2 drinks, and the options were canned drinks.  I chose the peach-flavored Milkis since I've never had the peach one before.

In addition to the set, we ordered the Prime Boneless Spare Rib to barbeque.  The boneless spare rib was marinated, and after grilling it, I had it with the lettuce wrap.  The flavor of the meat was the usual Korean BBQ marinade as expected, and the meat had a nice chew to it.
For the set, (the server actually came to our table to tell us how long to grill each item, and he grilled a few things for us too!)
Prime Spare Rib--this was a little more tender than the boneless one and the flavor was the same.
Pig Skin--the server actually grilled this for us and told us that it was already pre-cooked and all we had to do was grill it until it turned golden brown.  I thought the pig skin would be greasy, but it wasn't, and it was like a thin piece of nicely flavored jelly.
Pork Belly--I don't usually eat fatty pork, but after I had the pork belly in Jeju, I am no longer hesitant in having pork belly.  The pork belly was, surprisingly, not greasy at all, and it tasted better than the one I had at another Korean BBQ restaurant in HK, but it's still not as good as the one I had in Jeju, but that came from a local black hair pig.
Marinated Short Rib--the short rib had a stronger beef flavor than the spare rib, but it was a little harder to chew due to its cut.
Prawn--the prawn was huge, and of course, the meat was a little tough because of its size, but it wasn't dry.
Chicken--I don't usually eat chicken at Korean BBQ because I think chicken dries out on the grill, but the server taught us how to grill it correctly, and it came out pretty good.  It wasn't dry and the marinade made it taste a little sweet.
Beef cheek--The server didn't tell us which of the meats was the beef cheek, so I'm just taking a guess that the meat that had a stronger chew that was almost crunchy would be the beef cheek
Beef tendon--I've never had beef tendon at Korean BBQ before, and this was quite interesting.  Since it was grilled, the outside of the beef tendon had a slightly charred texture and the inside was gelatinous and a little sticky.

I tried the cheese and corn by dipping the beef in it, and the cheese was soft and stretchy and the corn added a crunchy texture to it.  The cheese was not overpowering and complemented the sweet marinade flavor of the beef.

Since I've never had ganjang gejang before, the server taught us how to eat it.  As instructed, I picked out the flesh of the raw crab and added it to some rice along with the seaweed.  The crab had a fresh sweet flavor and also had a hint of wine flavor to it.  I will order this again in the future!

Godbro Garfield ordered the soft tofu stew with seafood because he loves soondubu jjigae.  His comment was that there wasn't a lot of seafood in the jjigae and the broth was quite clear.  He would prefer it with a stronger broth.  I tasted it and the tofu was quite soft and perhaps they tamed the spicyness of the broth to cater to HK people because it wasn't as hot as I thought it would be.

I was introduced to mul naengmyeon a few years ago by my cousin and have been addicted since, so I ordered the buckwheat noodles /cold broth.  When I tasted it, it didn't have enough vinegar to my liking, so I asked the server for vinegar, which usually came with the noodles.  The server was unsure of my request, but she did come back with the right vinegar.  After adding the vinegar, the noodles were tasty and the cucumbers and pears were crunchy, and it's nice to have a bowl of cold noodles after all the grilled meats.
We also ordered the cheese fried rice since it's the new hit thing to eat nowadays.  The cheese was nice and stretchy, and the fried rice was loaded with kimchi flavor.  I was fine with the strong flavor, but it was too spicy for one of us though.

The set came with 1 snow ice, and we ordered another one to split between the 4 of us.  We picked the Red Bean Snow Ice and the Strawberry Snow Ice.  The red bean one came with plain condensed milk and the strawberry one came with condensed milk mixed with strawberry sauce.  We were given the 2 sauces to drizzle ourselves, and my advice would be to not drizzle all the sauce at once like we did.  The snow ice had the texture of real snow (I would know since I ate snow the first time I saw it falling from the sky), and it was very light and fluffy!  The red bean one came with mochi that had a good texture without being too chewy, and the red bean paste went well with the snow ice.  The strawberry one had fresh strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream on top.  The sauce made the snow ice delicious, but we ran out of sauce half way through eating it since we drizzled all of it on top.

So, our celebration for godbro XO came to a close with our bellies filled with lots of meat and other Korean specialties!  I hope godbro XO enjoyed Meokbang as much as I did!
