I had quite high hopes for this restaurant as we were craving shabu shabu but sadly expectations were not met. We came here on a Monday during lunchtime, so there was not a wait. I had quite high hopes for this restaurant as we were craving shabu shabu but sadly expectations were not met. We came here on a Monday during lunchtime, so there was not a wait. Ordered the most expensive premium lunch set for $398 (+$20 for udon) as we wanted to try out the beef. First of all, the broth to cook the meat and vegetables is just hot water.. which meant everything just ended up so tasteless. I guess you could say they want you to be able to taste the beef flavour without any additional strong flavouring, but that meant the beef had to be really excellent and it wasn't, so it just ended up being extremely plain. Beef quality was fine but nothing memorable, around 5-6 pieces for each person. The rest were just boiled vegetables too which doesn't add to the palate. They did provide dipping sauces, ponzu and sesame but it still wasn't enough. Overall, the service was good, the staff were polite. The bill ended up being around $450 per person, we left feeling unsatisfied and for that price I can think of many other better lunch options.
