Tonight we went to the Unami restaurant. Here we tried to order two Premium Sushi plates. One Premium sushi plate costs 510 HKD and contains 9 pieces of sushi. This makes the dish 3 times as expensive compared to an excellent sushi bar in Tokyo (Tsukiji - Sushiko).Given that the dish is so expensive we expect excellent service and quality. Given that the dish is so expensive we expect excellent service and quality. My wife cannot eat the Ikura in the set and asked to exchange it for the cheaper unagi. At first the waiter did not know the difference between the uni and the unagi and said that we could not exchange to the more expensive uni. At that point we clarified that there is a difference between the uni and the unagi.
Once that was clarified he agreed on the exchange. A bit later he came back and said that he could not make the exchange anymore given that they do not make enough profit on the deal. The unagi is a big fish and they would only use half of the fish for this deal.
So he proposed to use the Salmon which only costs one third of the Ikura. In order to make the deal a bit fairer we asked to get 2 salmon sushi's instead of one. This one he could also not do given that the restaurant would not make enough profit. At that point we said that we would leave the restaurant if he would not give in. He repeated his point about making profit and we left the restaurant.
In case that the Sushi is priced 3 times as much as in Tokyo, I expect excellent service and that the waiters know names of the fishes on the menu!!!
