The matcha cake roll was a bit of a letdown - it was dried out and hardened, not as fresh as I had hoped. The hojicha cake, on the other hand, was as moist and delicious as the cakes I've purchased from jenjen in the past.
The cafe's interior design is quite nice, with a clean white and wood aesthetic that is very 'Instagrammable'. However, the environment has some downsides. It's located near a lot of trucks and garages, so there is a constant background noise of cars and the occasional whiff of fuel. There are also insects flying around at times. The seating near the exit is quite hot, as there are no doors, while the inside of the cafe is quite chilly.
Overall, Jen Cafe has some positives, like the beautiful matcha drinks and the consistent quality of their cakes. But the high prices, mixed food quality, and less-than-ideal environment make it a bit of a mixed bag. I may return to try some of their other matcha-based offerings, but I'll likely stick to ordering their cakes online for now.
