Central Soho and sheung wan surroundings are always full with surprises with lots of nice restaurants around. Who would have thought there is a shanghainese restaurant in this area and it looks like a pretty decent place so I've decided to give it a go.It was still quite early on a Thursday night so it was only me at the time. It was still quite early on a Thursday night so it was only me at the time. Very generous seating spaces with some nice Chinese decos. There are quite a selection of wontons varieties and since it's a shanghainese restaurant, I ordered the shepherd's purse (薺菜 ) wontons and the vegetarian meat (梅菜素瘦肉)wontons. To pair with them I ordered the Soy Sauce simmered soup noodles with dried prawns (蔥油開陽煨麵) and a bowl of the traditional Chinese soup (響鑼蟲草花淮山薏仁雞湯)
There are 4 pieces of wontons for each type and both types were really unexpectedly nice. The shepherd's purse wonton was lightly flavoured and paired well with the soup, while the vegetarian wontons were kinda crunchy with lots of ingredients. The noodle soup was really rich in flavour and definitely a must try if you like the taste of the dried prawns. The traditional Chinese soup was also rich is both flavour and ingredients and really worthwhile trying if you are into Chinese soups!
Overall it was a pleasant surprise to find such place around central and a must go place if you really like wontons!
