Boyfriend and I were wandering around this strange mall located in Quarry Bay. Tired and hungry, we sat down here for dinner as boyfriend was surprised I'd never had Cafe de Coral's famed sizzling grilled meat plate sets.

I still haven't had one as I didn't order it. I ordered something else.

Cafe de Coral is one of the main fast food chains in Hong Kong. The others is Fairwood and Maxim's Fast Food. Cafe de Coral has some pretty decent value sets and I think taste pretty ok for what you pay for. Ordering is easy. Menu is in English and Chinese. You line up like McDonald's, order at the cashier. Wait for your order number to come up. Grab your food and eat.

Half a Zedoary Salted Chicken Set ($47). They currently have these earthen pot soup sets that include a earthen pot of Chinese soup, a Chinese dish a big bowl of rice and tea. But as they ran out of the soup, I downgraded my order to no soup and a drink. My bowl of rice was huge but not very good as it was mushy. But as it was fast food, I forgive this. The chicken was quite a bit and they do give you half a chicken. The chicken was moist and not too salty. They give you extra salty sauce if you want it to be more salty. This set was probably enough for two people. Probably for light eaters or two girls. There was that much chicken. It also had vegetables that were cooked pretty good. This was a solid meal for a low price.

I added money to upgrade the basic drinks to a special drink. I chose a fruit punch. This wasn't very good as it was just Sprite mixed with canned fruit.

Sizzling Mixed Grill with Spaghetti ($57).  Boyfriend ordered this as he claimed one has to come here for this signature dish. He was pretty disappointed by it as the sizzling grill plate was cold. He even pressed his finger on the plate and it was cold. The spaghetti was a bit mushy but most Chinese establishments were. The steak tasted like baking soda. The hotdog was soggy. The only saving grace was the black pepper sauce which was really hot and peppery. They even gave more sauce free of charge as boyfriend wanted more. Pretty good. Set comes with a regular dinner bun and a regular drink.

He also upgraded to a special drink which was pomelo mango drink. This I liked a lot more than my drink. Tasted sweet with enough mango and pomelo flavor. Had nata de coco to make me happy.

I liked my meal more than boyfriend's. And a pretty good bargain for what you pay for. Service was pretty nice as they cleaned the table when we sat down.
