Decided to come have a late lunch at 4pm since I was in Mong Kok and I’ve always loved this Korean BBQ branch. Their authenticity is truly something you don’t see a lot anymore. The environment is quite different to their CWB branch as there are more decorations and neon signs with Hangul hanging everywhere. The restaurant space is also a lot more spacious and floor is less oily. Ginseng Chicken Soup (half) with Seaweed Rice 人蔘雞湯飯(半隻)配紫菜飯 $78 I made it my mission to try every single Ginseng Chi

I made it my mission to try every single Ginseng Chicken Soup in KBBQ places and this is my second one so far. The taste and texture of the chicken certainly triumphs over JEJU BULGOGI’s Ginseng Chicken Soup.
The chicken was not just tender, but full of chicken flavor and extremely soft but still a bit firm so you get a good bite and it goes perfect with kimchi and rice soaked in the soup.
The breast which is usually dry and flavorless was extremely tender and pulled apart effortlessly, the flavor also blew my mind as I was not expecting much from the breast but it delivered this strong savory-ness with a hint of ginseng at the end. The skin on the breast also came off really easily and so I ate it with the breast meat and the rice and kimchi. It was an unbelievable combination I 100% recommend.
The chicken wing was just amazing. The tip came apart the moment I pulled it from the wingette, the skin was silky soft and perfect with the little hidden piece of meat between the bones, the cartilage attached to it was also super flavorful and crunchy. The drumette was just full of tender meat on more tender meat.
The chicken leg 🦵 was not a big one as it was a relatively small chicken, but the flavor and texture of the meat and skin was spot on.
The thigh had beautiful dark meats which was already flavorful and moist on its own, with the ginseng it absorbed, the taste just skyrocketed. Although it was not a lot of bites, but if you savor them and eat it slowly, then you can prolong this enjoyment.
The drumstick 🍗 had a plumper piece of meat attached to it which came off easily and the bone was spotless. I got a few good bone marrow and cartilages from that drumstick as well. The meat was, as I’ve already mentioned, soft and luscious. Perfect with the rice and soup.
The stuffing was the usual, glutinous rice, chestnut, jujube, garlic cloves and chopped ginseng. Now the ginseng present was a lot less than JEJU BULGOGI’s but I don’t really mind as the soup had a strong ginseng flavor and I personally don’t like eating them as they are too strong for me 😅. The chestnut was 1 single piece but very plump and crunchy. The jujubes were fruity and soft, a nice texture change. The garlic cloves were extremely big and soft, non of that spicy pungent taste, cooked long enough that it was not mushy but soft enough to be mushed and enjoyed with chicken. The glutinous rice was stuffed very generously so have a lot of it as well as their bowl of rice, but it was a lot softer then expected, border-lining mushy 😬.
The rice itself was topped with some seaweed and the bowl is actually not that deep so the rice portion was just perfect. I myself don’t have a big stomach but I can eat a lot if I have time ☺️. I recommend putting all the rice in after trying the soup a few times and eating a piece of meat, as then you can mix everything together, separate the pieces of meat and suck all that deliciousness from the carcass as there is a decent amount of meat attached to the back and in between joints. Don’t worry, the rice doesn’t get soggy or mushy when you leave it in the soup, it just absorbs all that delicious flavor.
Seaweed soup 紫菜湯 ($68)
Got this as a birthday coupon for becoming a member 😛. Finally redeemed it today.
The soup is extremely delicious, super savory and strong egg flavors due to the dropped egg. There was also pieces of beef with a bit of tendon which was also delicious and certainly filling. I personally loved the egg as it gives it a rich eggy taste and there was plumps of egg white too, although I know some people may not enjoy it. The seaweed was given super generously with all of them being huge in size and super crunchy and crisp with a deep sea flavor. Definitely recommend to try and don’t waste it if you are a member and have this coupon too.
Also, order something light and not a soup if you are getting is as a side or redemption as the egg, meat, seaweed and soup is super filling and they really give you a lot of everything 😅.
The bowl is the same as my Ginseng Chicken Soup so the portion was huge and I basically ate 2 lunch meals today 😬😝.
The service was existent but just barely, because we came so late, a lot of customers already left and it was just us at the end when we were finishing. The restaurant was also very big so the staff would often just go to the other side and avoid us 😆. When we needed more water or a refill of kimchi, we needed to wave dramatically and call out a few times before they come, they also don’t collect the empty dishes and just place the new ones next to it.
Also, because I was a member, a staff came over to promote their new promotions with coupons and it. She knew we were in the middle of eating but still came and she was there for a good 10 minutes 😂, very enthusiastic and interactive, but when we told her we were not interested in the offer, she just left and never came back 😀.
