Was a little bored with afternoon tea at hotels, my babes and I were sourcing around and finally set our eyes on C'est la B! Having known that this is a cafe version of Ms. B's cakery, we were very excited to pay a visit. On a Sunday afternoon, we were lucky enough to secure the last table near the entrance at the cafe. It was a very dainty cafe with lots of chic decorations - teapot lights and butterflies spreading throughout the ceiling. They offer a range of delicacies including cakes, sweets,
They offer a range of delicacies including cakes, sweets, and hot pies. We went out to the display and tried hard to pick 3 out of all the pretty cakes. Given it is a branch from Sevva, quality service was definitely expected from the staff. However, when we asked them to introduce the cakes, they only gave us single word description, i.e. Banana, Red Bean... More was expected that different ingredients and at least the name of the cakes should be told. In the end, we picked three and ordered Cafe Latte and Tea. Love the Latte! Originally I was trying to avoid having caffeine intake, but looking around and i saw cups of coffee being served, i guessed it was the right decision to order one for myself. I picked latte, and mmmm~ smelled and tasted good! smooth and the body was rich. and Here came the main! we picked three cakes to share and started to work on the lightest one first - Lady In Red. Originally I thought it was a strawberry cake, but the staff introduced to us it was actually a lychee cake to our surprise. She hadn't explained all layers so we would just find them out with our tastebuds!
On the top, there was half a raspberry macaron with raspberry glaze. Beneath was lychee cream and berry sponge! a very rich cake as in you could taste all different fruit flavors in one bite while you could tell what kind of fruits flavors they were. Loved how refreshing it was with a bit of sourness from the raspberry but you were still able to smell the aroma from lychee. The berry sponge was airy as well, making it just right for a cake to lighten up the mood for an afternoon Then with high spirits, we moved onto the second cake - Banana Lust! I have always loved banana cakes ever since a kid. This one was a cake 100% of bananas. Lovely sliced caramelized bananas were served on top with moist banana sponge and fresh cream in between. Very very banana, rich in body and in taste. a little heavy when compared to the Lady in Red, might be a good idea if the cream is of lemon or citrus flavor to make this a lighter cake. Still, I would recommend this to banana cake lovers! Savor this once in a while wouldn't hurt Last but not least, we had our eyes on - Better than Sex. Part of the reason that we ordered this cake was its seductive lips! It was a moist dark chocolate fudge cake with a tint of caramel crunch of the top coated with a little bit of toffee. Felt like eating rich dark chocolate when I had my first bite. Still loving it for the second bite but it started to get a little too rich starting with the third bite and so on. was great that I had two other girl friends to share the cake with. and I think it might be a good idea if there had been more crunches! It was indeed a very nice and chillax afternoon with my girlies though it was a little awkward sitting next to the big window of the shop. Thanks for adding one more chic place at Tai Hang
题外话/补充资料:
Given the price of the cakes, think it would be a good idea for the staff to have a better description on the cakes or have them written down on a menu. And would be great if they do accept reservations, we were lucky to have taken the last table!
