招牌菜
想去另一間,搵錯路,行番轉頭,點知去到裝修緊6月先開番,迫住行到好遠先搵到一間比較想試嘅新嘢。冇諗過食burger但冇咩特別好想食,碳包個樣夠特別,影相都抵。個包冇乜味道,牛肉頗有肉味脂香,鬆實度剛好唔會一切散哂又唔係乾身,但我個人愛鬆少少同再juicy啲嘅。襯落配粒芝士pickle生菜,整體有水準。伴碟薯條落咗香辣粉其實味道唔錯,但唔夠脆有啲濕嘅感覺。咖啡濃郁頗芳香。試過就算,冇乜特別而且位置偏遠。

Home Economics was once the little restaurant called Home. The food at Home was ok. Not great but ok. But for some unknown reason, it restyled itself and now call itself Home Economics. Why they chose this name is even more bizarre as to me, home economics was a class I detested when I went to school. To this day, I still can't sew a button.The restaurant now has long wooden tables and chairs and long benches to give it a more work station feel.Weekday lunch menu was under $100 and included a soup or salad, main and coffee or tea. For iced versions, additonal money is added. This is not noted on the menu but was mentioned by mouth when asked.Cream of Cauliflower Soup. This was the daily soup. It was pretty good. Creamy and smooth while still having a strong taste of cauliflower. Usually, I'm not a fan of cauliflower soup as most make it bland but this was actually pretty good.Bread Basket. Bread was pretty tasty. If you are expecting chewy crusts and soft centers, this is not for you. The whole bread was soft and just melted away. I like soft bread so this was great for me. It was also sweet tasting.Tomato Seafood Risotto ($78). It came in a cute old school Chinese bowl with a picture of a chicken on it. It had various seafood items such as clams, white fish chunks, a mussel and shrimp. It also didn't taste like risotto. It tasted like tomato rice. I have basically given up trying to find a decent risotto that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg here in Hong Kong. So, I kind of expected it to taste like tomato seafood rice. And that's what it tasted like. As a risotto, it kind of failed. But since I wasn't expecting it to be a true risotto ... it was a pretty ok tasting tomato rice. Coffee. Ordered the coffee with the lunch set. Coffee was strong enough. Nothing spectacular about it.I'd probably return. I used to eat at Home every so often. I guess I'll do the same with their new upgrade as I live close enough.

In the UK, Home Economics is a subject which I did not study so I will not go into further details.However I am quite curious how they got this name but then in the States, Home Econ means something different so they would have some American influence.Saturday is my discovery day so I will always go and eat something interesting, normally I will go to Central of Sheung Wan for Western food so I had to sacrifice not going there.The reason I went here was the lunch menu which changes every week so if I did not try it this week then it might change the next Saturday.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★Black Sesame bread:The bread was crusty and soft in the middle so it qualified as a good Western bread but not my cup of tea because the black sesame flavour was too Asian for my liking.Plain or herbs would be good.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★Starterne of the starters was sold out so had the salad.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★Chicken steak with coconut rice and fermented red beancurd gravy:The chicken steak was perfectly pan fried because the chicken was succulent and juicy with a crispy coating.I would have preferred plain rice because the coconut was a bit too strong and there was not enough sauce so I had to eat it sparingly.It then occurred to me that I could ask for more sauce which I did and the extra sauce was just magic because the red beancurd sauce was really fragrant and enhanced the taste.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★Tea:Unfortunately it was the usual Chinese red tea so it was really bitter.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎The bill: $7XService: OKService charge: 10%Yummy factor: okNapkins provided: yesToilets: noPortion sizes: reasonableNoise levels: NoisyGlass of water provided: yesEnglish Menu: YesAir Conditioning: Yes◎ⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓢⓤⓟⓔⓡⓖⓘⓡⓛ◎

本來想去試榮記雞扒,太多人排隊,見呢間新開又有位就試下。叫左個墨汁帶子意大利飯lunch set (78+10%) 有沙津+餐包+飲品餐包熱哄哄又軟棉棉,比起其他餐廳得好食。主菜幾特別,用左公雞碗裝。雖然同餐廳裝修唔係好夾,但呢個碗難得一見。墨汁飯唔會太鹹,仲有唔同種類的菇混入飯。有冬菇,雞脾菇等等。口感幾豐富。帶子微微微煎過,聞落去幾香。可惜帶子唔鮮甜,帶子愛好者會有點失望。餐廳員工好有禮貌! 下次可以dinner再試下其他菜色!
