 Although the cakes were good, I was impressed with the bakery because they were filled with lots of filling unlike other local brands and tasted superb as well.

 The filling had a strong flavour loaded with so much Thyme that you can see but the bun had a strong Hokkaido milk taste which was a bit sweet.

    Came across this new boulangerie and patisserie while surfing Instagram. Being the bread n cakeaholic that I am, I quickly did my due diligence here on Openrice and found 1 positive review. Happily decided to make a visit ystd. Unfortunately, we didn't get there till 7ish in the evening (personally I prefer getting my bread earlier in the day while fresh). Le fournil is located on the corner of Fuk Lo Tsun Road n Nga Tsin Wai Road, on the same side as Hoover Cake Shop, not opposite as shown on t

Happily decided to make a visit ystd. Unfortunately, we didn't get there till 7ish in the evening (personally I prefer getting my bread earlier in the day while fresh). 

    Le fournil is located on the corner of Fuk Lo Tsun Road n Nga Tsin Wai Road, on the same side as Hoover Cake Shop, not opposite as shown on the Openrice map,  across the street from 7-11. 

    Was as mildly surprised to find no bread on display upon entering. Cake case on the left, cookies n mooncakes on the right. The bread case is located near the back of the shop and it's not self serve. I like being able to choose my own bread.  There were only 1-2 pieces of each type of bread on display. Given the size of the case, I don't think they sell more than 12 - 15 types of bread a day.  All bread tags are in Chinese, slightly surprising given the French name. 

    I picked a cheese n spinach bread, cheese n mushroom bread, some sort of bread w beef filling and 2 little brioches. Everything was packed in one single brown paper bag, very boulangeriesque n eco-friendly.  


    i don't know if it's because I went late, but everything was rock hard and not fresh. The spinach and cheese bread was just a ball of tasteless dough. The beef one was hard n unspectacular. The brioche ..... Was the worst, crumbly and hard, so far from the normal soft rich buttery bread that makes a brioche a brioche. I gave the mushroom one to my mom and this is her comment 'pls don't get bread from this place again, darling.' 


    I didn't try any of the cakes or cookies, perhaps I will try at some point in the future. 
    According to Le Fournil's website, it is not a typical bakehouse. They train sociably vulnerable youths, hence giving them a new chance at life. I find that highly commendable. there is a lot of room for improvement, but I do wish them the best of luck and every success.

    九龍城，是一個美食雲集的區域，食肆多，餅店也多，今天也新開了一間，還見到明星剪綵。率先見到Forever friends 大啤啤在店前，被眾多街坊圍著影相，原來此店取得其商品製造牌照，可以用這大熊印在曲奇或其他商品上。不一會，一陣歡呼聲，原來劉美娟和張崇德到來剪綵，我很少見到明星，當然高興，還影下他們的風采。之後，店員拿著一盤盤macaron走到門前請街坊免費試食，我試了紫薯和栗子兩款，都是我喜歡的食材，味道天然，好味！後來又可試食鴨肝醬，果醬等。進店看看，有雪糕，價錢很親民，有迷你奶黃月餅，曲奇，茶葉，西餅，麵包等。新店開張，又吃了些免費試食，怎也要有些幫襯才是！我對這個塔斯卡尼香草包，一見鍾情，買一個回家試試。麵包外形像皇冠，質感很綿密和應有的濕潤，不是那種輕拋拋、一陣風的感覺，而且有香草和松子，焗熱後，麵包的香氣更盛，加埋我家的 pesto 醬，超正！祝新張大吉，生意興隆！
