went to the press room for sunday brunch, got there around 12:45 but the place was packed. the host asked if i had any reservation, thinking that since it just opened about a week ago, i would need one, so i said no. ended up waiting for more than 30mins. Tho i wouldn't say it was their fault. they let us wait at the bar which was situated in the entrance, but there was contruction going on right outside and the door was open, which made the bar filled with a thin layer of dust. (not to mention the kitchen was also facing the door, i question about the sanity as well.) I had a coffee while i waited for a table to open up. i have to say, the coffee was very good, rich and had a good smell to it. i was very pleased with the coffee.
The food was fairly decent, their sunday brunch include a variety of food:
waffles
banana pancakes
smoke salmon benedict
french toast
omlette
steak & eggs
i ordered the salmon benedict from the brunch menu, the lobster risotto from the starter menu and also the press room burger from the sandwich menu.
the smoke salmon benedeict was very very good, the salmon can be fresher, but all in all, it was a good choice and i'd recommand it
the lobster risotto was also very good, each bite of the risotto was filled with the sweetness of lobster. i believe they used boston lobster and for presentation, they placed the head and the claw of the lobster on the risotto, so if you are into the whole 蝦頭sucking ritual, it's there for you.
the press room burger is huge! we couldn't finish it and had to pack half of it away (we requested it to be quartered first). came with fries which i believe was made from fresh pototoes.
all in all, it was a good place to eat with good food. the service is only so-so, perhaps it was too busy for only 3/4 staffs to handle...
