Seared turnip pudding $0 - complimentary
A nice surprise at the beginning of the meal! Quite a nice appetizer to whet the appetite - the pudding itself was quite pasty and glutinous. Couldn't see any turnip shreds (which I wanted to see) but it tasted sufficiently of turnip. Thankfully the pudding had enough bacon bits to give it a bit of bite. Yes to conpoy. Not too salty or peppery - good! Slightly caramelized surface - mm delish. Stewed minced assorted meat in bean curd $140
Crisp exterior - batter was very thin, but did not break. Excellent skill there. Inside the bean curd was, I believe, minced fish meat and a bit of spring onion, soft tofu, preserved mandarin peel . Deep fried - but it didn't feel very oily in the mouth or on the lips. To me this dish is pretty darn delicious. 'Cept for the bit of corridander. Just a teeny bit. Roasted supreme beef $220
This would classify as a Japanese dish more than a Chinese dish. If it were really roasted chinese style I don't think there'd be the pink rawness as shown. The meat was fatttt and somehow a bit tough thaknfully the sauce was quite delicious and speical - it was a black pepper sauce infused with some wasabi. Sweet & Sour pork $240
First noticed the color difference from the conventional S&S pork. Less sauce in general, but each piece on the plate was coated evenly with the lovely sauce. That, is sufficient. Don't want a pool of thick sticky sauce at the bottom of the plate. Prettier presentation yeah. The pork surface was very crunchy, not floury (i.e. batter was not thick). Gave a fine, satisfying and solid crunch with each bite. Along with the pork was an assortment of onion, red pepper, green capsicum (?) and pineapple. Steamed egg with crab meat $220
Very very smooth surface and interior. No bubbles (ooh!). Kudos to the chef. Nice delicate flavour - the only complaint being the overdose of semi-sticky fluid poured on top of the egg. Made it oilier than it could've been. But overall, satisfying. Choy sum in superior broth $150
Ok this is where they rip your head off. But no chinese meal is complete without a good helping of leafy veg. So thre we have it. Tastes fresh, but slightly undercooked. The stem offered more crunch than I preferred. Almond milk teaNot sweet at all, slightly bitter even. Almond milk tea is really one of those desserts that you can develop a strong preference either for or against - I don't think I will ever be a huge fan! It will never be my dessert of choice.
To end the meal on a healthy, juicy note: complimentary fruits.
Conclusion:
Overall a rather pleasant meal. $270 is a good deal for this place but do not be deceived - bills can get insanely high once you enter the realm of seafood, abalone, shark's fin(?), birds nest...tread lightly.
题外话/补充资料：
They aren't called Celebrity cuisine for nothing. The adjacent table that evening hosted one senior govt official and his family. They were quite low profile. Appreciated that. The manager went over to say hi and from the sound of it he appears to be a regular. Luckily we didn't suffer from any fussing about. :)
