I booked a table at 12 (when they open) on a Saturday and it was quite vacant with a few other patrons. I asked to be seated at the bar to be able to watch the sifu do their stuff.
They have a special lunch menu, a la carte menu, omakase menu and a seasonal menu. Obviously we opted for their lunch menu as it is the same stuff as the a la carte but cheaper and comes as a set!

冮户前杂鏛海鲜丼 $118
All lunch sets come with a Japanese salad and miso soup. The salad is similar to other restaurants with lettuce, cucumber, corn and tomatoes but instead of the white sesame sauce commonly seen, they use black sesame 🤨 The taste is actually quite different with a milder sesame taste and sweeter notes, it’s cool they serve something different. The miso soup is also worth the mention. I think they use fish broth as well as dashi as the soup has a strong fish flavour and its quite creamy as if fish bones and fat were involved. The wakame is tender and crunchy, and doesn’t disintegrate in your mouth.
As for the Don, it is a feast for the eyes and the stomach.
All the sashimi is freshly cut and each piece is extremely thick. Accompaniments included some takuan (yellow pickled radish), ginger and a big knob of wasabi. The takuan is refreshing, not too sweet or sour. The ginger is sweet and pungent, great eaten with rice and fish. The only flaw in this is the sushi rice. I appreciate that it is seasoned but it is slightly too acidic and it is also quite hard. Would have been better if the rice was freshly scooped and still warm. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed eating it with the fish and here is what was given.
三文鱼Salmon: Thick and fatty, exactly what you expect. Eating it with rice is better than alone as the oil is too rich on its own.
油甘鱼Yellowtail: This was by far the most tender cut today. Rich in oil and great with rice or on its own. A very big piece too!
墨鱼Cuttlefish: SO tender and soft, unlike what I expected and pleasantly surprised. The flavour is similar to poached cuttlefish, where you can really taste the cuttlefish. A great change of pace from the usual fish and wished the piece was bigger.
亦虾Aka Shrimp: The shrimp is very plump and juicy. Raw shrimps are so rich and intense in umami, especially when fresh. This is everything you expect it to be. I loved eating it with wasabi and rice to balance out the sweetness.
亦身Tuna: Akami (the leanest part) is given and I personally prefer this over Toro so lucky me I guess. The tuna is fresh and very fishy (strong tuna taste) but able to be pulled apart with the spoon and very tender on the mouth.
Season fish - Sea Bream: This fish is naturally tough and firm thus I already knew what to expect. The taste is very mild and you are mostly eating and enjoying the texture and freshness of it. No complaints but it is a tough fish and the texture is similar to eating tendons.
As a side note, my friend got their kabayaki Eel don and the smell was too good that I had to try some and it was delicious. The eel is so thick and tender and the sauce is so savoury with a great level of sweetness. The sauce is also not too thick or overpowering. So it is nice to know their hot dishes are also really good.
Each lunch set also comes with ice cream as dessert. We got both the yuzu sorbet and green tea ice cream. The yuzu sorbet is refreshing and light but a bit too sweet and not very sour. There are also bits of yuzu in it which I really liked. Though the green tea one is my personal favourite. The tea flavour is really rich and intense with the perfect amount of bitterness. The texture is smooth and bouncy, like gelato. A great way to end the meal.

本鲔吞拿鱼$65
They are currently doing this offer where you can get a selection of tuna sushi (including Otoro, Chutoro and Akami) for 65 instead of 129 by liking their social media. And it is so worth it.
Each piece is extremely thick and I mean around 1.5cm and the ratio between fish and rice is crazy! (3:1). The Otoro is so fatty and it literally melts in your mouth. The Chutoro is still fatty and tender but does not melt in your mouth. The Akami is the same as the one in my don but so much thicker.

推介 🙆🏻♀️
💬 Overall, a great experience in this well-known and conventional Japanese restaurant. Their lunch sets are also quite reasonably priced but lacking in options.
