I got off work pretty late today and went ahead to get an early dinner. When I arrived outside their main door, a Japanese lad was trying to gather customers inside. Plenty turned away and left while some, including me, went inside. The cleanliness was topnotch. Not a speck in sight.Their menu is both in English, Chinese and Japanese. I ended up with a Mini Roasted project rice bowl ($40) from their tea time page and also a side of gyoza ($40 for 6 pieces). When my bowl arrived, I was surprised with the size of it. It definitely wasn't a mini bowl. Despite the size of it, I was immediately downhearted when I noticed that the rice to meat ratio wasn't reasonably equal. It contained quite a lot of rice, three slices of roasted pork, a handful of chiseled leaks, a sheet of seaweed, and a half boiled egg. The pork itself felt like it was lacking in flavor. It wasn't flavorless at all though.

The half boiled egg on the other hand, was good. I haven't eaten my fair share of these beauties that much so I can't say much except that the egg was very bouncy, and that the yolk was very creamy. I noticed that the egg also had a hint of very light soy sauce flavor on it too.

Overall, the flavors from each ingredients in this entire bowl was all over the place. The roasted pork needed more flavors, the egg was rich and done beautifully, there was also a ball of spinach squeezed tight to remove excess water. It was okay and crunchy, just needed a little salt and have it presented better next time and not just a green ball . The rice was just plain rice but it was doused in sesame oil like the chef's was trying to mask something. All the ingredients just didn't mesh together right and to call this a roasted pork bowl is just wrong.
Setting that aside, I went to try my gyoza. Quite the opposite from my rice bowl, this was done beautifully as a whole. The skin was thin and almost crispy, the meat inside was plentiful and flavorful.

The whole masterpiece was just pan-fried to perfection. It didn't leave me feeling oily at all.
