The experience started with the reservation - my friend had received calls from 3 different staff and had given different instructions. It was weird that the last staff, a lady named Winnie, who claimed to be in charge of the Christmas Eve booking, told my friend that they would accept deposit via credit card but not bank deposit (as there is service charge for credit card payment & nil for bank deposit)
. As giving credit card number to strangers was not a practice of my friend, she has decided to pay cash deposit by going to Al Pasha (as Winnie said that we cannot pay cash at other restaurants under the same group which was acceptable according to another staff called previously). Any way, we have to pay HKD100 per head (thus a total of HKD900 for a party of 9 + HKD500 for the whole lamb) and the per head deposit would not be refunded if the number of people reduced and Winnie said that if we pay our deposit prior to 22/Dec, we would enjoy an early bird discount of 10%.

Despite the trouble in reservation, we arrrived at Al Pasha on Christmas Eve, trying to enjoy the holiday. Everything went well until the "grilled whole lamb" was served. The staff has showed us the lamb and said they would cut it in the kitchen and then served us - it took them about an hour to do so and when the dish was served: 1) the lamb did not look like "grilled", it's more like "steam" lamb; and 2) it has no skin. Since skin is my favourite, I then asked the staff where the skin has gone. After discussion with the Chef, the staff advised that "Lambs in Xinjiang has NO SKIN"!!!
I was quite confused as according to my knowledge, all lambs have skin ... correct me if I am wrong! The staff then said that if we like skin, he could give us the skin from another lamb ordered by other customers!!! So, did the lambs have skin in Xinjiang?? Finally, the skin was served but it was like the deep fried pork chop in Macau and with a strong smell of Soda. And when we tried to pay, they said the early bird discount are for customers entering the restaurant prior to 8:15pm (our booking was 8:45pm and the lady Winnie was aware of that I hope). You could imagine how unhappy we were, although they have finally agreed to apply the discount after we complained (in a quite violent way I must admit). We went there because we saw the recommendation from "Choi Lan" and it proved again that Mr. Choi's experience is a lot different from a normal one.

I hope this is an isolated event but as a first time customer, this certain was not a happy experience. No need to say, we have decided never go there again although the other dishes were not too bad and the pricing was quite reasonable. The whole lamb costed HKD1,600 and it was a total disappointment.
