the walk into the building past the wet market area was not very appetising (try to hold your breath) however once you take the lift up to 1st floor, it's not so bad. tables with white and red plastic cloth covers, chairs with backs, dry floors were all unexpected considering the location. service was decent, better than tsui wah. don't feel rushed, no attitudes for not being a regular. food was fast and good. great recommendation on dishes. the fried "nine stomache" fish was heavenly, big
the fried "nine stomache" fish was heavenly, big pieces, lightly crispy on the outside, juicy and soft inside, seasoned just right (not too salty). a pretty big plate costs only $38. chinese restaurants charge more than that as a small snack dish and usually done very poorly.
the oysters were fat and juicy, around 10 pieces in a clay pot. at $58, i'd say it's value for money.
the lady recommended a black vinegar ribs. 5pcs. the sauce was the perfect mix of sweet and sour. the ribs looked like drumsticks and were slightly crisp on the outside with very juicy meat inside. much better executed than similar dishes i've tried elsewhere.
peashoots w/ thousand yr egg & salted egg was good but veggies is veggies.
total plus 2 bottles of large beer was $203. will definitely come back again to try other dishes. remember to sit at tables w/ the red plastic table covers. the other colors are other vendors' tables.
