Situated on the street of an outdoor wet market, Woo Cheong serves traditional Chiu Chow food for many years. I always wonder how they built their reputation by locating in such a dirty location and they even have another restaurant right across the street. We came here to celebrate Father’s Day and have pre-ordered their traditional stuffed crab in two ways. However, I don’t think it’s as good as others commented. We were seated on the first floor, feeling was not very nice. it’s not spacious
🥂Traditional Stuffed Crab in Two Ways $888
The crab was stuffed in two ways. One way was stuffing the crab with female crab roe, minced pork and minced shrimp. The other way is similar but with male crab and added green peas to it. However, if I close my eyes to eat it, all I could taste was minced pork that many know how to do it at home. I couldn’t find much taste from the crab and of course, not to mention any umami from it. The crab claws were also quite bland and we need to add lots of vinegar to enhance the taste. Truly disappointed!

I haven’t had this for years. They were fresh in taste but the sauce was too salty.
🥂Chilled Abalones in Fish Sauce
It’s not bad, very tender and not small in size. But I think other sauces fit better than fish sauce.
🥂Fried Shrimp Balls and Crab Balls $168
One of the must order from this restaurant but the shrimp balls were filled with vapour taste and neither the crab nor the shrimp flavour stood out.
🥂Cabbage with Minced Pork and Fishballs $138
After having so much meat, it’s always good to have some veggies to balance out. But I think more cabbages could be put in the bowl than the minced pork.

The broths were clear and very rich in taste. That’s probably the only thing I liked from the meal.
🥂Chiu Chow Style Mung Bean Sweet Soup with Jelly Cubes
I’ve never tried jelly cubes that tasted like plastic and I have never seen coloured jelly cubes served in Chiu Chow restaurant as well. It was honestly disappointed again.
