I took my wife, 3 kids (aged 10, 8 & 7) and my mother-in-law and brother-in-law (total 7 people) for father's day. We had no trouble getting a table in June - but I have tried to book in the past during hot pot season and it has been full. Consequently this was our long-anticipated first visit.
We drove, and that was easy as the place is only a few blocks off the main road, and the route proposed by Google Maps was accurate. There is parking for 4 cars on the ground floor, which was highly convenient and free with dinner.
The restaurant is modern in style with electric induction heaters built into the tables and iPad menus & wine lists, which worked smoothly. For English speakers, the management and staff speak good English, and the iPad menu is well-illustrated and bilingual, making ordering very easy.
Flat screen televisions were showing movies with no sound, so we had 'ours' turned off to avoid distracting the kids.
The air conditioning is powerful, as it gets warm when the pots are all boiling, but was cold initially, and the ladies were cold as they forgot to bring layers of clothes.
There is a short wine list running from about HK$200-500 per bottle, and, for the World Cup they had an international beer promotion with a beer or cider from each country in the finals.
What of the food?
It was excellent.
The 12 item condiments tray contained a few we had not seen in hot pot making before, so we all had fun making up our dipping sauces.
The soups were good - we had 3 kinds in 2 divided pots.
There were meats at various price points from very fine Australian wagyu to more ordinary - all was as described.
The only offal we had was ox tongue - which I enjoyed - but I am the only offal eater in our party.
I'm a meat eater, but you can get good meat in most hot pot restaurants, and you usually get what you pay for, however a couple of fish items deserve a special mention: the 'crab & coral dumplings' and 'sea urchin shrimp fishballs' were very good.
The kids ate especially well - they enjoyed the new flavours (we usually have more traditional hot pot) and the finished up with Lindt chocolate fondues.
My wife and her mother had Hokkaido milk puddings which they pronounced as 'one of the nicest deserts ever' - high praise from them.
Assistant manager Mr Samuel Full and his team were pleasant and efficient.
We managed to run up a bill of $600 per head Including 10% service charge) by ordering a couple of bottles of wine and other drinks and eating a vst amount of expensive beef followed by two (!) chocolate foundues. It would be possible to eat very well there for much less.
We'll go back.
