Ginza Restaurant (银座日本料理) inside Harbour City, is not to be confused with a similarly named and nearby Ginza Okura restaurant (银座 大仓), nor the nearby Tonkatsu Fried pork specialist at Ginza Bairin (银座梅林). A teppanyaki hot plate specialist by name only, for a few months or a year I keep noticing some other Japanese food aficionado who works inside this shopping mall and he persistently posts photos of here, torturing or luring me in with his weekly sushi fixes from this particular shop. Comes by default with 4 types of pickles, and surprisingly one is a Za-Sai which originates from China but the Japanese version is usually milder.

Part of the lunch course. It consists of fish meat derived imitation crab meat, and Capelin roes. The former is known to be fake crab meat, and the latter is often sold off as Tobiko Fish or even Crab roes, which both of these, somehow has become one of the World’s Biggest Double Scams in history… Wasn’t very impressed at all with this double-faux appetizer.. ~ 2/10

The salmon wasn’t too fatty enough for me, but the Engawa was pretty spot-on. The Toro pieces were sliced slightly too thin and didn’t released much aroma in the end. This was just fair. ~ 6.5/10

The Hokkaido version of a Chirashi-zushi. The version here was really good value for money, especially with the large botan ebi prawn and fresh scallops and ikura roes. The salmon again paled in comparison as it was more bland and lean too, the sea urchins were more like the bigger Canadian or California types although fresh. Overall this was a bargain. ~ 8/10

This looked nice enough but was obviously over-boiled, retaining not much texture. The soup broth base was very spot-on to be fair. ~ 6.9/10

This fared better than the soup version, retaining a bite but not too much buckwheat taste. The dipping tsuyu sauce was decently accurate. ~ 7/10

The Matcha was strongish but also quite milky, quite balanced for me. The sesame probably is easier to please because the black sesame is stronger in taste by default, so it cuts through the strong milkiness better. ~ 7.5/10

All in all, we thought this meal was promising especially with the raw seafood part. Although bits and pieces were either very good and generous in portions, some other aspects were only ok, I guess the main attraction of Ginza Restaurant is it’s freshness of seafood and not stingy portions. On the other hand, some supporting ingredients especially the appetizers could be more convincing. Where was even my Miso soup or a Chawan Mushi? And what is with that Surimi imitation Crab Salad? Seems almost like it was compromising bits here and there, although outcome was still satisfactory.
