It's hard to review American Club food, even if it's only for the Central clubhouse because there are a few restaurants; but in general food here is good: ingredients are always fresh, service is always attentive and waiters are polite. As other reviewers have noted, first time comers may have problems getting there. It's actually very easy: in Exchange Square II, take the one of the four elevators on the far left of Starbucks that reaches floors "47-49", press that button for "47-49", get out

It's actually very easy: in Exchange Square II, take the one of the four elevators on the far left of Starbucks that reaches floors "47-49", press that button for "47-49", get out on that floor (which in reality is 47th floor) and then take one of the two elevators next to the sign "American Club Hong Kong" on the far right. If you are not a member, make sure you know the member number of your host as there is often a personnel asking guests for security reasons.

is the coffeeshop in Central that I visit most often, and the menu has a great variety, with Thai (salads), Chinese (fried rice), a list of sandwiches (Ruben, meatball parmigiana), Mexican (chimichangas, burrito), even Korean (bibimbap)! I especially like their breakfasts, but they are only available until noon. The "American Club breakfast" set includes two eggs any style, a side greens, and your choice of toast. Eggs benedict is a reliable choice. And there are always options with your orders - if you want greens instead of fries, just ask. And because their menu changes very often, you can ask for discontinued items as well; their great service makes ordering an ease.

Their buffets are among the best I've had in Hong Kong - as I have said, freshness is a guarantee. And their oysters are GINORMOUS! They are even bigger than the ones i have had in Canada. I have no idea where they come from! They used to offer lobster benedict on request, I haven't seen it for a few years now. Go to Tai Tam for their brunch buffet, which is cheaper (less than $200) and available every weekend.

This location is good for business luncheon, with its convenient location, quality food and quick service. If time is not a problem though, I would prefer Tai Tam clubhouse location as it is more comfortable, with more space and more family-friendly. The food otherwise is more or less the same.

Another thing American Club is really good at making are their desserts! My favorites over the years include key lime pie, which is the perfect amount of sweet and tanginess and SO rich; their pecan pie, with nutty creaminess in EVERY bite and a crazy syrupy (maple?) glaze; their blueberry (or New York, if you don't like berries) cheesecake which is brick-thick, with a sinfully buttery graham cracker crust. And their creme brulees, especially at the buffets, are small enough so you can leave room for other desserts, and they are always bursting with vanilla goodness!

Even the Central location is kid-friendly - my nephew loves their mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, fish fingers and jello cups. And they have a popcorn machine with freshly-popped buttered popcorn next to the terrace on 49/F.

The Clipper is great with a salad bar, and I recommend their roast beef (ask for extra Dijon), poached lobster tails, and steaks (any cut is good, I personally like their sirloin). Ambiance is great; there is live music at certain times later in the evening. Wonderful for a romantic dinner.

Shun Fung is their Chinese restaurant; Dim sum is fine, and I have had Singaporean fried rice noodles at the coffee shop before but overall I would say their Chinese food aren't the best in town.

Overall, with all its restaurants, I would say American Club is a wonderful place with something for everyone!
