Booked for Saturday lunch with family. Have visited this restaurant for over a decade. As I was early, I sat at our table and waited. About 30 seconds later, was asked by both the male staff (I assume manager, professional but grim-faced) and female waitress (Mimi) what name our booking was under and how many adults and children in the party. As I was early, I sat at our table and waited. About 30 seconds later, was asked by both the male staff (I assume manager, professional but grim-faced) and female waitress (Mimi) what name our booking was under and how many adults and children in the party. As there were only 5 adults and 2 children, they asked if we mind moving to a smaller table, to which we said fine.
Ordered the Kurobuto pork, Karubu beef and premium Karubu/pork sets. Still waiting for my family to arrive, the salad and soup had already been served. Upon arrival, one lady staff (I think another manager) noticed we had a toddler and asked if we would liked a baby seat, which was nice and this lady was smiling and helpful. Unfortunately for us, this lady was not responsible for attending our table.
Mimi (face of stone throughout), our star waitress, noted the baby was being cradled in arms and asked us if she could take away the high chair as it wasnt being used and also that it got in the way of customers to their individual rooms...downright rude.
The meat marinades are the highlight of this restaurant and it is still as good as the first time I tried this place. Unfortunately our Mimi was responsible for a rather uncomfortable experience. Over-attentive to the point of feeling we were being rushed out the door. At one point, she said she was changing our grill, which had just been changed minutes before. We told her this, and she helpfully informed us that it was due to our cooking style (yes, her tone was sarcastic too).
I visited a few weeks prior on a weekday, when it was much quieter. At the time, I didn't notice it as much but on hindsight there was something our Mimi did that was similar. I was cooking the final pieces of meat and she approached to ask if we wanted dessert of a drink. Ice cream was ordered. About a minute later the ice cream arrived whilst I was still cooking the meat!! Anyway, the nice lady manager mentioned before, noticed I was eating rice while the ice cream was waiting, and asked whether I wanted to have the ice cream served again later.
All this has left me feeling I do not know what. Food is great. Service was terrible (at least our attendant). At this moment, I am feeling I will not visit this place again.
