Booked my facial appointment across the street and arrived Central a little too early. Was thinking of grabbing some quick bites from cafe in the corner but everything looked so unappetizing on a rainy day. Saw Naozen when I was on my way to Shake'em buns and decided - why not?Great atmosphere when i entered and the waitress took care of my umbrella. Which was grateful since I wouldnt want it to drip across the nice wooden floorings. The lunch menu was very extensive and I took quite a long time
Great atmosphere when i entered and the waitress took care of my umbrella. Which was grateful since I wouldnt want it to drip across the nice wooden floorings. The lunch menu was very extensive and I took quite a long time to decide. In the end I settled for the Tempura lunch set and switched the soba to hot udon.
appetizer - potato mashed with carrot and mushroom. The mushroom was very pronounced, which i really liked.
ushi - 2 pieces of inari sushi (bean curd) - server was nice and told me 'sushi is sweet so you don't need soy sauce to go with it'. I really appreciated the rice in the sushi, they were of the right texture and taste.
tempura udon - Tempura itself was fried decently, with the batter thin and crisp. However the squid did not taste of squid much =( I'd rather it be replaced with sweet potato or something. Udon was excellent. The soup was really hot and it was still steaming by the time i finished the udon (well i couldn't really finish the udon cos the portion was rather big). Although it was no Inaniwa Udon, the texture was very decent.
The dessert is orange which I had to skip cos I took my time to eat. A great lunch by myself!
It totaled to $126 (something along that line..). Believe there was a discount cos it's weekend?
Would def go back again and try other sets!
