casual family dinner on a sunday. mom said she heard of this place from her friends, n want to try. i aint a big fan of chinese food, but it wouldnt hurt to change once in a while right? we arrived sometime before 7, kinda empty at the time. i heard they mainly serve recurrent customers, and us 4 standing there clearly implied we were the newbies. lol. nonetheless, we received warm greetings as they settled us down.ordered mainly from recommendations from the manager, of which some were appa
we arrived sometime before 7, kinda empty at the time. i heard they mainly serve recurrent customers, and us 4 standing there clearly implied we were the newbies. lol. nonetheless, we received warm greetings as they settled us down.
ordered mainly from recommendations from the manager, of which some were apparently their signatures. now as i said, i aint a big fan, so i had absolutely no preference nor expectations for the dishes whatsoever.
and THAT was why it struck me hard when the food came.
ordered the following dishes:
- 油泡鲍鱼
- 梅菜猪手
- 通菜
- 酱爆鸡件
- 潮州粉
- 柠檬叉烧酥
i dont have to go over them one by one... becoz i must say EVERY DISH was remarkable!
how should i put this... ok, it is like someone singing very fast but you can hear every word he is singing. the dishes had multiple flavors in them, but you can actually taste every different character within. everything was DETAILED. for example, how special can "酱爆鸡件" be?? but it was GOOD! 酱 - flavorful, 爆 - golden yellow and smells excellent, 鸡件 - FRESH, no frozen flavor, juicy and tender! and for 潮州粉 - dim sums of this sort should be 薄皮, insides shold be finely chopped, hot steaming when served. they did it all.
so do we have a common understanding here? none of the dishes were fancy, but everything, as the title suggested, was detailed. i actually like their RICE the most - 都系果句 - 白饭又有几特别呀? well thatz the thing. it smells fabulous (LITERALLY 饭香), hot, chewy, and not sticky at all. 试想像有一碗白饭在手, 可以令你真系讲一声 "哗, 碗饭好好食wor!!" then you can imagine how it would taste like. seriously, no exaggerations.
also worth mentioning is their female manager. polite, efficient, to the point yet you wont feel pressurized. having worked in the catering industry before, the feeling she gave me was "有佢压住个场, 爆厂褟档都无问题". really important to have someone like this in every restaurant, it does play a part in making a place successful.
in conclusion, 无心插柳柳成荫. a heartful dinner out of the unexpected.
