There are some items I buy purely for one reason and one reason only. To take a photo and throw it on social media for the world to see. Usually these don't taste very good but at least they are super cute.Case in point is this place called 1830s Macaron. A small take away only stand in Kwai Chung Plaza that focuses on cute as a button macarons. The steps are simple and conveniently explained in Chinese and a bit of English. You choose your macaron, the type of ice cream and two toppings. $30

Seriously, who is going to get a regular macaron here? This is definitely not Lauduree quality macarons. Just skip onto the character version.
They have quite a decent variety of toppings.
This is what I chose. Cookie Monster. Sandwiched between a cookies and cream ice cream as I was going for a Cookie Monster theme.
Topped with a Hershey's cookies and cream crunchy balls and sprinkles (because who doesn't like sprinkles).
They even give you cute spoons to scoop the ice cream.
Tastewise? Well, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't a good macaron. It was just sugar and lacked any almond taste. The ice cream was ok. It was generally super cute. But $38 in this shopping center is pretty expensive. Service was great and the guy deep down knew people only came here for the social media likes as he kept stating this is good for taking photos. Even he knew it didn't taste that great but just looked cute. Cookie Monster's mouth was draw on with edible ink but I don't know why it rubbed off so easily. I have an edible pen at home for drawing on my cookies when I don't want to do piping but it's never come off when I rub it before. This one did. I wonder why?It's cute. I got what I wanted but I really wouldn't return again.
