Boyfriend and I were unsure what to have for dinner. It seemed there was a lot of people planning to eat out that weekend so there were long lines every where. Finally, we decided to see what was available here and came across Outback. We hadn't been to Outback in a while as we think it serves the worst steak in Hong Kong as it's always over cooked. But then we noticed this the new menu. Apparently, during the pandemic, they have dwindled down their menu to be very limited in selection. And all
Menu is in English and Chinese. The sets include a soup or salad and their famous bread. They also have other items but it is very limited. Their famous Bloomin' Onion isn't on the limited menu.
The sets come out with their famous bread. It's just wonderfully sweet and soft. The butter is whipped but as boyfriend noted, it wasn't sweet like they do it in Canada.
We chose the soup and it was cream of mushroom. Creamy but not much mushroom flavor. It had very crunchy croutons.
We shared the sets. This is the Simply Grilled Barramundi ($98). The fish skin was crispy and there was slight fishy taste. The vegetables were at least grilled and not that soggy steamed stuff I usually get in most Western restaurants here. It was on a bed of rice that was quite nice.
We also had the Chicken Quesadilla ($78). It came with some fries but they weren't too crispy. The chicken quesadilla didn't have much flavor and there wasn't a lot of cheese. A bit sad, actually.
The food was mediocre but at least everything was at a discount. The bread will forever be the best item from Outback. For the discounted price, it's worth it. I'd probably come again and just order pasta.
