I was walking around Hong Kong MTR today and felt like grabbing cafe food for a change. It was so noisy and crowded on the main street so I searched for one close to the mid-level escalators. It was strangely co-located with a Japanese fast food restaurant called 甘一堂. There was an advertising board outside showcasing purple sweet potato buns and European cranberry bread with cream cheese filling. I browsed through their artisan shelves and found them quite colorful.
There are ready made drinks as well.
To be honest, their drink menu is very simple. I kinda wanted something with more variety.
Their interior is quite charming and uses recycled products for decor. I like that they're environmentally conscious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They recommended the flower tea pot to go with my European breads but I can't really finish that pot by myself even if I tried.
I ordered their famous soft European cranberries bread with cream cheese filling ($24), soft European blueberries bread with cream cheese filling ($20) and a cup of Earl gray tea ($18). Everything on my table seems slot but I just couldn't help myself with that blueberries bread. It was calling out to me to try and taste it.
I must say, the blueberries choice was spot on. The European breads are as soft as a pillowy bread but tastes strangely like a bagel. And as I puncture into the bread with their brass fork, I can hear that pop sound made by any freshly-made bread. As a whole, the bread was soft but firm at the same time. I can't really explain the texture but it's so good, it's addictive. The overall bread inside isn't even too thick so as to show us their quality-made cream cheese that's packed in generously.

On the other hand, the famous cranberry bread didn't turn out well. On the contrary, it's the opposite of the blueberries one. It wasn't that soft nor was it fresh, the flavor wasn't so good either. And sadly, he cream cheese filling here was crumbly and the bread itself was harder to cut with a knife and fork. this didn't have that pop sound I wanted to hear. This is more like a 1.5 star out of 5 because I can really see and taste that made-on-dates between these two breads are obviously and completely different.

There is also a sweets and savory department in the dining area if you don't feel like eating their artisan breads. The pastries are made by the well-respected Chez Shibata who combines classic French pastries with Japanese skills and techniques. I might try their savory sets when I'm near the area again.
There is no 10% service tax. Cash, MasterCard, Visa, and Octopus are accepted.
