Absolutely immaculate setting marked by the amount of jade on the cutleries. Once seated, you are greeted with a big block of jade in front of you, but it will be replaced by places after the order is made. It felt like a 'show-off' but given the price I am about the pay for this meal, I would not mind the restaurant going over the top.Their Chinese tea menu is quite elaborate. Their Chinese tea menu is quite elaborate. We had 'Shui Hsin' tea which were extremely fragrant in a traditional way. Definitely one of the best tea I have had and it was recommended by the staff.
We ordered the set menu. The meal started with the dim sum selection. Their signature baked abalone on crispy taro was excellent. The abalone was cooked to perfection and went extremely well with the crispy taro. I particularly enjoyed this dim sum selection more than the other courses.
Next was the prawn in vermicelli and garlic. I must say I am usually not a big fan of prawn but the cook of the prawn was succulent and soft. It did not have the slightly rubbery texture that I dislike so well done to the chef.
The pork with beans and fried rice were too ordinary after the dim sum platter and the prawn. Not to say they were not delicious. They were simply overshadowed. Lastly was the dessert. I am not a fan of almond milk so I did not enjoy it. Thinking back, I should have perhaps asked for it to be changed to something else.
This meal costed almost $600 and it was well spent. I left the restaurant full and happy
